Does my rotor look warped?
OK so long saga, I'll try and condense it. This is my 2022 Honda Rebel 1100. I got it used from a used dealer with 1500 miles on it in 2023, so it was pretty new. It's my first bike and I've loved it.
However as I got more and more experience, I started to notice that from 45mph upwards, there's a hop in the bike, like a vertical wobble, almost feeling like you're on a bumpy road. And it is rhythmic, so it repeats, it's not completely random feeling.
I've been chasing this for over a year now, and the shop said "it's within spec for the weight and size of the bike" which is BS. I took it to a Honda dealer, and $150 later they said "yeah there's something but we'd need to spend 3+ hours of labor to tell you what it is.
What I have done is:
- New Metzeler Cruisetec tires - issue persists
- Adjusted preload until I'm blue in the face - issue persists
- Slightly overinflated the front tire - it's a little bit less noticable.
- New EBC HH brake pads on the front and back, they were needed, but no change
At this point, I had it up on the stand and I started spinning the wheel. I've noticed a bit of noise coming from it when riding normally now, and the clicking in the video. I have a feeling that this issue is either the front bearing being worn, BUT more importantly, I think I've noticed a potential warp in the front rotor. If you look in the video, you can see it appears to get higher and lower, almost like a horse on a carousel. Does anyone think this could be my white whale, the reason for the hopping?
