Topps/Fanatics Live - Friendly Warning
Just a heads up for anyone using fanatics live - there is zero fraud protection or security measures if anyone gets access to your phone or account. Fanatics live is auto login, and there is no security in place for bidding or purchasing. There is also no security in place for changing addresses - IE. No email verification, no 2 factor process, or even an email letting you know a card or email has been added or changed on your account.
Someone broke into my car a few weeks back, got access to my personal phone I left in my car (I always leave my work phone in the car, but brain farted and did the opposite). I didn’t realize it until I got several fraud alerts from my bank and Expedia after they tried to book a trip using the Expedia app. It turns out they also added their address and used various cards to purchase Pokémon packs, football cards, and some other junk that I’ve never even heard of. I’ve never even purchased anything on the app and my guess is they didn’t get flagged for fraud because most of the time in-app purchases have an extra layer of security. I really only signed up to see what it was like after being unhappy with whatnot’s setup.
My bank is obviously issuing chargebacks, but topps/fanatics live have done nothing to intercept the deliveries, provide refunds, or any support at all. All they did was ask for screenshots of the transactions and then they ghosted me after saying it would be escalated. After daily requests for an update I gave up trying to get them to do the right thing.
The cards were delivered to some no-name warehouse somewhere, so I hope whoever did it has a few grand worth of base cards. My phone was found in a target parking lot which I’m guessing was dumped because we sent a findmy alert to it.
Be very careful with what billing info you provide on their app, and be aware that even anyone with your email and password would get your billing info and addresses without any safeguard.
