This theory, surprisingly, does contain leaks. It's surprising because I've been pondering this theory for a few days now; and I did refer to a few ingame descriptions as well as their CN dubs to see how accurate I was, and tonight, I was even more surprised to find out that Nicole had something interesting to say-
In the early days of Genshin, we didn't have a lot to go on. The more canonical originsvwe were told was that Venti is a thread of the thousand winds, a wind spirit who didn't have divinity prior to being found in Mondstadt 2,600 years ago. But, this never made sense to me. When we say that Venti is a "wind spirit", what exactly does that mean? Where did he come from? Where are his brothers and sisters?
We also had Venti's character demo saying, "Full of mystery, born from The Branches of Time, a history of sorrow, and witness to The Divine".
But these bring up some very curious questions as well, "Full of mystery" comes off as an indication that things are not as they seem in regards to Venti, prompting us (or at least, me) to analyze his lore in depthly.
"-born from The Branches of Time" likely references his direct connection to Istaroth.
"-a history of sorrow" could be in relation to Old Mondstadt, or it could also be in regards to something that happened in Celestia, which prompted his leave.
"-witness to The Divine" under the speculation Venti originated from Celestia, this could refer to any/all of the Shades, or it can even refere to The Primordial One.
##1) Venti is Celestian
In the Genshin Impact manga that goes over aspects of Mondstadt's history, it begins with Venti waking up during the aristocracy after hearing Vanessa's prayers. Venti, at this point still wasn't aware of the aristocracy, but when he eventually caught on to what was happening, he befriended a warrior named Vanessa and together, they abolished the aristocracy for forever.
At one point, before discovering that Venti was actually the Anemo Archon, Vanessa asks about Celestia to which Venti had a look that suggested he was very uncomfortable with the topic, while a memory of three shadow figures appeared which could be the three shades.
^(Important to note: Because of the number of shades being three, it could be in reference to Istaroth, Naberius and Ronova— suggesting that Asmoday had already left the shades prior to Venti leaving Celestia)
Venti's immediate reaction to Vanessa's question about Celestia, was to deflect the question entirely.
Fast forward a couple centuries, the same question was asked again by The Traveler in the supposed question of "Have you ever been to Celestia":
>Celestia... I'm not sure even I could fly that far. In any case, the water there tastes foul and the fruit is bland. You know what that means? No cider! Haha, in that case, I wouldn't go there even if I was invited. > >^(More About Venti: IV)
The discrepancies here are that, despite Venti's words, he has clearly been to Celestia based off the memories he had 1600 years ago when a similar question was asked. He has negative comments about the fruit and water. And, in the recent Temple of Space quest, it directly states "There are places that the everpresent-wind cannot reach, or rather, chooses not to."
With the proof that Venti is somehow connected to Celestia, here are some further evidence that I've found:
>The tales of another world speak of children of the air who dwelt in the skies. These were all spirits of the wind. Some of them could slice through mountains and rocks, and others could summon tornadoes to move clouds and water with incomparable force. But the youngest of those children was disregarded by people for the weakness of his breath of life. Thus did he hide himself away. The wind-pollinated flowers were in agony, for there were none to pollinate them, and so did the boldest dandelion search for and find the breath of life. > >^(Wings of The Forest)
This is a story told by Rukkhadevata to a rearcher studying windgliders and why they are not govern by the laws of physics, and instead are dependent on the Anemo Archon's blessings. This story was also told to Rukkhadevata by Venti.
"-the youngest of those children was disregarded by people for the weakness of his breath of life."
I dont fully know what the "breath of life" google suggests that it actually refers to the inanimate connection between the creator and humanity. I'm not sure exactly how accurate this is
"Thus did he hide himself away."
Interestingly enough, in the CN version, it more accurately describes how this windspirit "concealed his form". I thought this was interesting to point out due to the fact thay when we do see during the time of the Archon War, he was just a floating little guy in a cloak and we could've only seen his eyes, legs, and the fact that he only had one wing similar to Asmoday's creations.
This tells us three things. One, there ARE infact wind spirits, but they are all in Celestia. Two, wind spirits generally do not look like how Venti was depicted in the memories. And three, we really don't know anything about Venti 😭
If you're still having doubts, there's also another description referencing this theory:
>"A gust of wind would be really good just about now." > >Thus sighed the adventurer trekking through the seemingly boundless wilderness. > >The sounds of his lament ascended to the lofty children of the skies, who reside in the towering heavens above. One of the children, hearing the adventurer's plea, began to wonder how to bring the breeze to this person in need. > >As it came to serve others and selflessly cared for the lands, it began to slowly materialize, gradually taking the form of a person > >When it finally came to the end of its path and met the stranded adventurer, it was no longer the gust of wind that the adventurer had first hoped for. > >^(Wings of Azure Wind)
^(Warning!! Leaks about >!Nicole's voicelines!< incoming!! If you don't wish to be spoiled, please ignore this part entirely <3)
##2) If Venti came from Celestia, for what reason is it that he didn't have divinity during the Archon War??
This is something I'm also curious on, as well honestly. Because of the "breath of life" seeming to be tied to creation and Creator, I suspected that Venti lacked a divine connection? But, his likeness was also compared to angels by Alice:
>She said, "The daughter of the sea offered up her voice to gain legs, the children of the air did the same to gain form, and now the daughter of the heavens sacrificed her voice to become human."
Nicole also said:
>The heavens demanded silence and punishment, so I thought a lifetime of voicelessness could be a good bargaining chip. > >^(About Alice: Daughter)
"The heavens demanded silence and punishment"
This seems to connect with Venti's Lunar Acranum card:
>The "Hierophant" sings the rites of revelation, > >The grand cathedral opens its doors to all life. > >But the god who is praised, > >The sentinel who holds the key, > >Is akin to the children of the mortal world, > >Powerless to speak of the mysteries of heaven.
Under the speculation that Venti lost his voice as a punishment for leaving Celesita and granting himself a form, is this the reason as to why Istaroth granted Venti her voice as well?
Its actually ironic that the God of Song is being silenced in this way.. I'm curious..
Now, I have no idea how accurate I'm being in all lf this but this has been on my mind for YEARS and this is the best conclusion that I can think about. This also makes Venti more of a curious creature in my eyes becausd it further reiterates that we really don't know anything about Venti.. But, it also gives us an idea that Venti could remain a significant character going towards Celestia.
What do you guys think of my theory? Do you think I hit the nail on the hammer or did you pick up on some inconcistencies?
I'm aware that there may be some gaps and maybe some bigger questions as to why Venti could've left Celestia, how old is Venti really since it confirms that Venti prrdated the Archon War, what is Venti's connection to Istaroth and to Celstia as a whole with his statue being Celestia's gate?.. But, I fear thede questions will be answered in due time 💕💕
Ursa being revealed to be a >!corrupted angel!< was not on my 2026 bingo list 😭😭😭
Spoiler:
>!The angels who forsook wisdom in favor of power became corrupted dragons like Ursa, ones without distinct Elemental characteristics. Of course, over time, heroes have hunted them to near extinction. What if I had chosen power like those dragons? ...It's difficult to imagine. I'd like to think my scales would have been a glittering silver, though.!<
