Upgrading speed woes

I recently upgraded from 1000 to 2000 and based on my previous speed upgrade, I'd wait a few hours and reset the router to get newer speed. This unfortunately didn't happen this time.

I was told upgrading would take 24 hours which is fine. 72 hours, one replacement router and many bot like responses from chat later and im still on 1000.

They told me that the hardware (my pc) will be the limiting factor due to the maximum speed my ports work at. The same pc works at my sons place at 5000 speed no issue. At home? Still 1000. My computer ethernet port works upto 10gb.

What could the issue be? What can I do? Anyone had similar problems?

Im a new DM and came across these in a charity shop for £1. Will they help me in learning the ropes? Or would it be best to get 5e versions?
