CEO Apology

AMC CEO gave a pretty upfront apology for how the Dune Part 3 ticket sale went and said they were spending $2 million on infrastructure improvements.

Yet crickets from the Cinemark CEO. Do we even think Cinemark is going to do anything? Pretty bad when your biggest competition is engaging with the community and you are staying silent.

Edit: I am clearly referring to the imax 70mm release

Solution for Theater Etiquette

Theaters aren’t going to start adding/enforcing policies on disruptive guests talking/pulling out their phones. But for the first time ever, I asked for a refund because of it and they immediately gave one.

Now, if I see someone pull out a phone or someone talks in the theater, I am just going straight to customer service after the movie finishes and asking for a refund. If everyone starts holding theaters to a standard, that is when we can expect change.

I suggest everyone start doing the same.

Edit: to clarify, I am saying ask for the refund after the movie has completed

Edit #2: completely agree that there are things that a customer can do (though we shouldn’t have to police) and ideas for what the theater can do to combat it. This post is referring to pressuring theaters though to actually start taking action by hitting them in their wallets. Because right now they couldnt care less.

Basic Economy Needs to go Away

I know I am late to the party but basic economy was fine when we had

  1. The ability to still earn miles and status
  2. To pick a seat if you had status

Now that those are gone it’s basically just artificially raised the price of the airline experience across the board if you want either of those “luxuries” and is very anti consumer. I don’t think this will happen anytime soon, and not to make anything political, but I fear the only way for the airline experience in this country to get better is for federal intervention.

For example for less than a year we got refunds on flights without having to pay some fee, but then that got rolled back with the current admin (again not a political post). We need more pro consumer policy in the airline industry because it is becoming absolutely awful. Especially compared to other first world airlines.

And while I never flew spirit, the loss of a low cost airliner means less competition and less choices for low cost flights, which has the effect of legacy airliners being able to raise prices even more due to less options for their “customers”.

TTP Properties of Numbers

Finally finished the lessons, going to do the practice tests tomorrow. What an absolutely brutal section, a complete slog. Thankfully almost at the other side.

Lot of helpful information but man was it long and thankfully seems like the demand of it isn’t consistent with the remainder of the course.
