Do you tend to avoid people?

I didn't think I really did but some people sometimes ask me why I always just disappear after a while...? I guess I might do it more than others because I like to be able to get lost in my thoughts and not feel so burdened by other people's presence lol

Anyone interested in being a mod?

This is just for gauging interest, we'll probably post more about this if anyone's interested (meaning we're not gonna straight up add anyone right here)

I'm just gonna say right now that I can't pay you and probably won't ever be able to lol... it's definitely a bit of work, but I find it rewarding. We're looking for an autoromantic who can answer questions, and just keep on the lookout in general. Maybe like 20 minutes a day, but we won't get mad at you as long as you're doing something. We'd probably just take people on for a little and then have a discussion about whether they want to join the team. If people are interested, us current mods will think about how we'll choose team members. We were honestly just thinking we'd probably just have random choosing or like have a post later and choose the first few people... Like idk, you are all amazing!!! I would add all of you, but having a huge mod team could also get tedious, so I might just resort to being random..... if anyone actually wants to do it lol

By being here, you're already doing so much for our community and I really couldn't ask for more because you are all helping so much!! But that said, if you do want to try helping in a different way, consider joining our mod team :) we're very friendly!!! But we're all kinda busy all the time lol... So yeah, also if you're busy a lot it's still workable ish if you can give a bit of time. Hopefully as we add more team members the work will be less...

As our community grows, I feel that it's increasingly important to have more surveillance, just in case. Anyways, please comment if you're interested!!

How do I share a stand with someone?

Like, I can play outside no problem but I'm actually so bad at playing inside without hitting my partner or holding back my playing so I won't hit them. Also reading the sheet music feels much harder from that angle... am I just not used to it? I've always been assigned to outside, but when I've played inside for practicing with others it always sucked. Am I doing it wrong? Do I need to practice being inside?? Or is it just normally annoying to be inside??

Trauma, personality changes & loss of innocence

In the time since I realized I was autoromantic, I feel like I've had some personality changes (unrelated to figuring it out, just from traumatic experiences). For a while I found it really hard because I lost a lot of the things I used to specifically love about myself. This was really devastating for me and made me question whether I was still even autoromantic. I still loved myself somewhat, but much less. My feelings and some of my old self have slowly been coming back, but I'm still nowhere near where I was before. Also, for many months after the change, I was intensely grieving the "loss" of my former self. Like, seriously grieving. Honestly, I still am grieving a lot but it's really hard to talk to others about, because I've lost something mostly intangible to them. I was wondering if you guys had any advice or just anything at all to say about this. I'd just honestly love to hear more perspectives

To all our members...

I always love hearing what everyone has to say, and it often makes my day. I feel really lucky that we have an online space where we can connect and share our experiences, as well as spread more awareness about our community. It's honestly such a dream to have all of you wonderful members. Thank you for being here and being a part of this with me :)

Before I knew I was Autoromantic...

I was super confused... I would get super invested in other people, and would give them the kind of attention I always wanted. I would get closer to them and gain their affection, but it would bother me, because I'd realize the kind of love they gave wasn't really what I wanted. I wanted the kind of love that I gave. So often I would try and try to change them to make them act like me, but when it didn't work, I would give up on them and try other people. I was desperately searching for someone who was just like me. This also made some things awkward because others could get really attached to me, but I didn't even really care for them, so it made me feel uncomfortable and overwhelmed, and I would try to get rid of their friendship/affection as quickly as possible. This made some things in my social group a bit tense because I tried that with many people. I kept going and going in circles and couldn't stop, and I didn't understand why I couldn't find the kind of love I wanted because how I acted was exactly the way I wished other people would act towards me. At some point, I finally realized, hey, I'm right here! I can just turn my love inwards, and it'll be perfect, and I can have what I've always wanted with myself and be normal with my other friends. I'm so, so happy that I've discovered that I'm autoromantic, because everything makes so much more sense now and everything is so much easier and simpler. I'm really grateful I discovered it and wasn't just like..... wow I'm so weird no one else is like this

I created this subreddit in the hopes that it will help other people figure out who they are and not be really miserable like me... Also to celebrate us because we are not different in a bad way and our feelings are valid :)

If you want to share, I'd be interested in hearing about your experiences too!!!

Dealing with admirers (?!)

How would you deal with people who like tell you they really like you (romantically or platonically) and say they want to be "close" with you? (idk if admirers is the right word lol)

Idk but for not auto people they tell me to take it just as a compliment, but I feel like it's probably less flattering for auto people because we already love and admire ourselves so much and we don't necessarily appreciate having that from other people (personally, I find it kinda an intrusion).

For me, it can make me kinda jealous... Do you have ways to reduce that? Or would you just try to distance yourself from them instead? I'd love some different perspectives/advice for that and for how I could communicate my disinterest politely but clearly and also feel less intruded upon in general when people act interested in me

Preferred autoromantic flag?

Do you all have a preferred version autoromantic flag? I feel I've seen a lot around but we don't really have one "official" one. Not that we need one, but just curious (unless you like really hate the one that we have here and if so PLEASE TELL ME)

Do you go on dates with yourself? What do you usually do?

Usually I'll go to like the park or sometimes to a cafe that I like. It can be annoying though, because people sometimes think that if you look like you're alone, you want to talk to them... Like, can't you see I'm having a moment? So I often try to go to places with minimal people.
