How do you feel about your Chapter Detachments? Strength/Fluff

A lot of stuff was already known, with todays Downloads we have finally have them to read for ourselves.

I personally am not going to talk much about the General Space Marine Detachments, because we will get the Space Marine Codex presumably in the next months, and who knows how many Detachments are going to survive, are changed, new ones coming in the book etc. The Chapter ones are going to stick around for longer I guess.

So what are your thoughts about your Chapter? I dont mean perceived strength only(reading it on paper is one thing, playing it another) but also how well they fit or fulfill your image of the chapter.

As someone who loves Black Templars, I have to say I am disappointed.

The living Miracle Detachment for example seems so unnecessary to me. I can upgrade The Emperors Champion to THE Emperors Champion. Whole point of the Emps Champs is him having visions before and being anointed as such. Does the Emperor now hand out Visions+ where you have to subscribe or you see ads during the vision? Besides this not making sense to ME, I also dont see much sense in taking it Gameplaywise. Either the Model is good enough Datasheet/Points wise to justify taking him already, or he only just becomes good after it spend the DP point. For 1 Model. If its more units who would become playable I can see it.

Wrathful Procession was changed, before you had Litanies as Detachment Rule. Now you can buff your Chaplains or whatever, idc. But Litanies are gone from being tied to this Detachment. So what I would love to see tough is a comeback of Litanies as a CHAPTER RULE. Black Templars and Chaplains. Chaplains and Black Templars. Litanies. That stuff should always be there if you play them. No Matter if I take Crusaders or Sword Brethren or Terminators or Dreadnoughts or whatever. They are all religious and fanatic and whatever else.

I was rereading through 10th, 9th and 8th(8 was Faith and Furry) iterations of the Black Templars and from all of these I still like 8th the best, by far. Not talking strength, but how I imagine them.

Righteous Zeal giving reroll to charges and 5+ FNP vs Mortals. It just makes so much sense to me. I can imagine it so well, the Fanatic charging at you. This guy doesnt notice if you chop of all four limbs. He can still use his head.

Litanies of the Devout, their own special Litanies. Codex Astartes Litanies are toilet paper. Mine are more litanious than yours.

Devout Push, Emperors Will, No Escape, Vicious Riposte.

Advance and Charge, getting in there.

You hit me? No, i hit you.

Fall Back? Whats that, you stay where I can hit you. This is called Duel for a reason.

Their Chapter Master was the best Swordfighter and Duelist out there. Black Templar go out there and challenge the enemy. You bring a gun to a swordfight? Guess what, you still lose.

Thats it at least for me. Charging in. Challenge. Duel. Melee. Faith. And I just dont see it at the moment with Black Templars.

Another "Can I shot that guy" Topic

Hello!

I know this is a common topic, but I had a game today and me and my opponent werent sure if this is doable. So we seek clarification.

Can the Phobos on Top shot the BT Captain down on the ground?

We checked, he can see him.

Question was, is the Captain in cover? Since, if I am not mistaken, you draw the lines from Base to Base, and those would pass through the Wall(heavy) which I stand right next to(within 1") and have conceal, I would have said Yes, and therefore not a valid target.

Would there be a difference, if the Captain hugs the wall and is directly under the Phobos?

Thanks it advance!
