Let the players make the rules

Let the players make the rules

Every summer, the players get together to decide the rules for next season. During their process of debate and deliberation, former players and coaches (and refs, etc) are allowed to advise the players upon request.

I think this would be a mess for a few years - which be entertaining in its own right - but eventually through trial and error the players would be able to find the best competitive balance with the rules. The floppers aren’t going to be able to justify their bullshit to the other players if they have to say it out loud. They would also be able to address block/charge, balancing offense/defense, etc. They love the game and want it to be fun and competitive.

Offseason - Good Vibes, Long Term Success

I have some broad strokes for this “plan,” and I’ve looked into the contract details, but they get too complicated and uncertain for me to lay it all out here. A lot of these ideas are repeats from other people, I’ve just put them together in a way I haven’t seen yet.

The main idea for this plan would be to compete for next season while setting us up for major moves next offseason. The key advantages to this approach would be resetting the tax and getting more intel on our young guys. We would be exceptionally well-positioned to make targeted moves that put us over the top next offseason, but not as much during this one.

**Moves:**

Trade Hauser to GSW for Horford (and a 2nd?)

Sign Rob Williams and Anfernee Simons

Extend Pritchard

Opt-out/extend Queta

**Roster**

Bigs- Queta, Timelord, Horford, Garza, Amari

Wings- JT, JB, BS, Hugo, Walsh

Guards- White, PP, Simons, Harper Jr

Bringing Al, Rob, and Simons back to Boston would make sense for the roster and the locker room, too. Maybe none of them would stay past one year, maybe all of them would. They would bring good vibes, and we would get a year to evaluate each of them for their fit moving forward. Maybe Al and Rob help Queta take an even bigger leap. None of them would have to take on too many minutes during the regular season, and they would make an incredible platoon in the playoffs.

I think everyone would love this team, and I think it makes bball/roster sense. This roster could compete next season at the same time it gives the young guys and the old vets a chance to show they belong on the next championship team.
