Qwen 3.8 27B and Deepseek V4 Flash. Why are we building data centers?

I feel like these 2 models have shown that massive models that require hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of compute are unnecessary. Sure, training these models takes a good bit of hardware, but running them can be done at the fraction of the investment of the trillion parameter class models.

GLM 5.3 might also fall into the same "reasonable" category, however, for small companies rather than individuals.

I think a qwen 3.8 120b MoE model would also be a good release for business use.

Bottomless chips and salsa calories

The calories listed on the bottomless chips and salsa are listed at 910 on the menu and the nutritional facts online. I think thats gotta be assuming you get a refill of them. I got some today, and they were the thin type chips with maybe 40-50 chips. I dont see that adding up to 910.

Google File Search RAG + External reranker provider

Has anyone setup a RAG system using Googles file search for the RAG embedding and retrieving and then used an external reranker from a service like pinecone? Google has their own reranker, however its through the Google cloud service which is one of those "request quote for price" kinda services so I imagine its way more expensive than I need for a simple re-ranker setup.

Zero entropy does what I need out the box, but I think using Google + reranker will be cheaper.

Mythic Plus Player Item Level 12.0.5 Week 4

Week 4 update in my data collection endeavors see last weeks post here

The data is of 10,000 random players who have completed at least 1 mythic run in the last reset. 10,000 is used because of a limitation in the raiderio API calls limiting me time-wise.

I corrected an error in my code the redline on the histogram now uses the median instead of the mean to set its location.

Item levels increased by around 3 for each percentile up from the lower increase from last week, likely due to the new item level boost from Ascendant Voidshards.

the median ilvl was around 278.6 for all roles.

The median score for each role was as follows

  • DPS: 2822
  • Healer: 2874
  • Tank: 2838
  • Overall: 2835

Weekly Breakdown:

Week Ilvl 25th Percentile Ilvl 50th Percentile Ilvl 75th Percentile

Mythic Plus Player Item Level 12.0.5 Week 3

Week 3 update in my data collection endeavors see last weeks post here

The data is of 10,000 random players who have completed at least 1 mythic run in the last reset. 10,000 is used because of a limitation in the raiderio API calls limiting me time-wise.

Ilvl in the 25th percentile only increased by 1 and the 50th(median), and 75th percentile only increased by 2 this week breaking from the 3 ilvl per week trend so far. This seems to indicate that people are starting to level out gearing.

The Median ilvl for each role was 276

The median scores were as follows

  • DPS: 2740
  • Healer: 2793
  • Tank: 2720
  • Overall: 2745

Weekly Breakdown:

Week Ilvl 25th Percentile Ilvl 50th Percentile Ilvl 75th Percentile
Week Before 12.0.5 260 269 274.3
Week 1 263.3 272 277.3
Week 2 266 274 279.3
Week 3 267 276 281

Another update to my ongoing data collection for the season, see last weeks post here.

The data is of 10,000 random players who have completed at least 1 mythic run in the last reset. 10,000 is used because of a limitation in the raiderio API calls limiting me time-wise.

The only change I made this week over last is that the plot now displays the median of the data instead of the mean.

The median Ilvl for each role is 274, the median score is as follows.

DPS: 2676

Healer: 2714

Tank: 2711

Overall: 2691

I am going to start adding a table showing the week by week data to make comparison easier.

Week Ilvl 25th Percentile Ilvl 50th Percentile Ilvl 75th Percentile
Week Before 12.0.5 260 269 274.3
Week 1 263.3 272 277.3
Week 2 266 274 279.3

Hello all,

This is a weekly update on what mythic plus player item levels look like at the end of week one of 12.0.5.

This is a continuation of my post last week where again I measured the item levels of 10,000 random players who have completed at least 1 key within this last reset.

The average this week is 268.6 up from 265.7 an increase of 2.9. Filtering out players below a score of 2000 the average is 273.4 up from 271.

62.4% of players were DPS mains with an average ilvl of 268.5 and average score of 2318

19.1% of players were healer mains with an average ilvl of 268.3 and an average score of 2424

18.5% of players were tank mains with an average ilvl of 269.1 and an average score of 2400

The item level quartiles are as follows where 100% is max in my data.

25% 50% 75% 100%
263.3 272 277.3 286

I'm surprised that item levels didn't increase much more over last week, however that may have been the result of the bugged bonus loot tokens.
