Torn Between These Two Bikes

Hey, I’m going shopping for my new bike Monday, and I’m pretty set between these two models. The 2026 CB750 Hornet and the 2026 CB650R.

The main factors I’m considering are Engine, Features, and Aesthetics.

I’m a 6’4 rider with a 34 inch inseam. Sitting on either bike is comfortable, but as it’s my first ride I don’t really know whether or not a certain amount of knee bend or lean becomes unsustainable on hour+ rides. I’m trying to use this bike as a daily commuter on my 10 mile route equally split between the interstate and traffic-light city roads. On the weekends my father and I are planning to do larger scale rides, around a couple hours. Neither of us have any inclination to push the bikes harder than the speed limit, except in passing scenarios.

Engine-wise, The 750 is a parallel twin while the 650 is an inline-4. I believe this means the 750 handles city riding better and is cheaper overall. I’ve also heard that parallel twins are easier to service. The 650’s inline-4 appears to handle easier on the interstate and at higher speeds, but I’ve also seen a lot of people say the bike has problems with vibration at 6k rpm. I know there’s a strong culture around inline-4’s and the quality of their sound. I personally don’t care about this.

Both bikes are very similar with the Honda E-Clutch tech, which I love as the only bike adjacent thing I’ve ridden was the automatic scooter I would rent when I lived in Asia. The main difference between the bikes is that the 650 is throttle by cable, and the 750 is throttle by wire. This means the 750 can automatically rev match when shifting, and also introduces ride modes to the bike. For someone who’s only rode automatic, I really love the ease of use that comes from the E-Clutch TBW combo, but maybe I’m overestimating how difficult rev matching is. The 750 also comes with Roadsync, but I’ve heard this software is trash anyway. I just like that it’s integrated into the machine for aesthetics and simplicity.

Aesthetically, hands down I love the 650 so much more. I think it’s a beautiful bike, and while the 750 isn’t exactly an ugly ride, the colorway of the black with the gold trim is just so sexy to me.

Engine: Undecided, need a test ride.

Features: CB750 unless I decide TBW is inconsequential to my riding experience.

Aesthetics: CB650R all the way, but the 750 isn’t an ugly ride.

Professor L Returning Content Test Group

This is not a glaze post, Ludwig has for sure already seen the crazy positive commentary surrounding his classes, especially after collecting Professor of the Year.

Part of the problem is that Ludwig has often showed with his actions that he isn’t a fan of public self-glaze (never voting for anything he directly had a hand in creating for Streamer Awards as an example).

What I want to do is create this post as a place he can see that there is a very real interest in content geared towards how the sauce gets made in the factory.

There is already a long list of streamers from this event who I as an audience member am interested in seeing how Professor L’s lessons impact their growing careers.

Streamer Games SU Team will be a great test to see whether relationships with some of these creators can live beyond the event, but having such a limited group of these creators doesn’t allow for us revisit some of my favorite interactions I got to experience from the event.

If you agree or disagree that there is a legitimate interest in seeing an occasional Professor L’s Summer School Office Hours where he collabs with these creators, does channel updates, reviews, or does Atrioc-style presentation content, add on to what I have to say!

Torn Between The Canon R50, R50 V, and R10

• Budget:

I prefer the price of the R50/R50 V, but I’d rather just get the R10 now instead if I would have to get it within a year or two anyway.

• Country:

USA

• Condition:

Definitely prefer new, but it depends on the price cut.

• Type of Camera:

Mainly looking at these three mirrorless options rn.

• Intended use:

Creatively, I’m more of a photographer than a videographer. Any video I take would mostly be to create travel reels of the places I visit.

• If photography; what style:

Mostly street photography, occasionally geographic. I like playing with light trails and stars.

• If video what style:

Just travel! Also collecting b-roll, so I’m interested in slow motion, but I don’t mind the crop levels of these cameras too much.

• What features do you absolutely need:

Tbh I feel very simple as a user. For me, the fun of photography is in practicing exposure. I like that the R50 V doesn’t overheat as much but I feel like I’ll really miss the viewfinder. I don’t need a lot of impressive video features, just something I can apply LUTs to. I’m also a 6’4” man, so I’m uncertain how much the size of these cameras will matter in my hands.

• Portability:

Not really an issue for me. I like packing a camera bag.

• Cameras you're considering:

Canon R50, R50 V, R10

• Cameras you already have:

Currently, none.

• Notes:

I’ve heard mixed opinions that the R50 V isn’t as good at photography as the other two, but I can’t see why that is. Also, are there any areas that the R50 beats the R50 V in outside of ease of use? Thanks!
