Is this a good price?

Went to see this 2018 Honda cb300f today, private seller. Inspection came out good, new chain, 4800 miles, and everything looks great. Main issue is it has no ABS and both the rear and front tires are from Nov 2017, so they’ll likely need to be replaced. Was quoted approx $450 in my area for new tires and labor costs for installation.

Seller won’t go lower than $2800. Is this a good deal/worth the buy? I really love this specific make/model/year but I wanna know if a better price for the same bike will come around. I’m new to bikes so any tips/advice would help! :)

I got hugged by a semi. I need to resurrect my baby.

On Oct 1st last year a Semi decided I needed a hug and turned into me.

After a pole vaulting trophy and someone singing "Staying Alive" while I laid down for a while, followed by some wee woo, then some pokey, stitchy, blood stoppy and someone yelling "CLEAR", I got to whoop whoop 5 hours away to more pokey, stichey, blood stoppey with added nuts and bolts, I'm mobile-ish now.

I got my ride home. She's like me. Damaged but resurrect-able.

I need forks, suspension, radiator, handle bars, blinkers, headlight and bucket, controls. Maybe some other odds and ends.

Anyone have some good places to find what I need? I've been hunting around but some of the prices are obscene. Like, price of the whole bike or a new engine obscene. It doesn't need to be painted, I'm going to redo my original custom style. Bare metal is fine. Thanks for your help!

1996 Honda Shadow VT1100C2 idles perfectly but dies when I give it throttle.

Hey everyone,
I’m hoping someone with experience on the Honda Shadow VT1100 can point me in the right direction because I’m stumped.

The bike had been sitting for several years before I got it. I’ve been slowly bringing it back to life.

So far I’ve:

Removed and thoroughly cleaned both carburetors.

Cleaned the jets and passages.

Installed a new fuel pump.

Verified the bike starts and will idle.

Adjusted the idle speed to a steady idle using the remote idle adjustment knob.

Current symptoms
Starts without much trouble.

Idles indefinitely and never stalls while just sitting.

Fuel pump clicks every few seconds while idling (not continuously).

The moment I begin opening the throttle, the engine bogs and dies.

It doesn’t matter whether I snap the throttle open or roll it on slowly—the result is the same.

I also get some popping from the exhaust.

Honda WN7: What do you all think of Honda’s first electric motorcycle?

Who would have thought we’d see the day Honda brings out their first fully electric motorcycle.

I got to have a go on the new Honda WN7 and I’m just curious what everyone else thinks of it really. Is this something you could see yourself owning, or do you think electric bikes still have a long way to go?

One thing I will say, I didn’t get the 80 miles of range it says I should have… but to be fair I was pretty heavy on the throttle 😂

I’ve done a first impressions review on it here: Honda WN7: Honda’s First Electric Motorcycle… But Who Is It Really For?

I’ll leave it there if anyone wants to see it, if that’s cool. I’m more intrested to hear what other riders think of the bike.

First time rider/buyer here - is this a good deal?

To my limited knowledge, this seems like an incredible deal to me. I’ve been more interested in Ninja 650s, but this seems like too good of a deal to pass up. I did some background checks on the seller and everything looks to be in order. What do you guys think?

Adv 350 flooded

Hi all,

There's been a terrible rain event and my adv flooded in its parking position (which is out of my sight). It was covered so nothing happened on upper half but rain went up almost to the half height people said. Before turning it on I've cleaned lots of dirt that flood brought and stuck on the tires and the body parts. Then I turned it on but at first, rear wheel didn't spin freely as I think it should. Then I gave a little throttle, it responded. Now in waiting mode wheel turns very slowly as you see in the video. I was afraid to give more throttle in case I do some damage to the bike. I turned it off and wait for monday to come so I can call a shop but it also needs a proper cleaning before too long...

I'd like to have someone's opinion.

Thanks.

Or is it okay to just, hook it up to wheel really good, and then pour some oil in it to lube it up? Or do i just plug it in? If i do have to put some type of lube in there, what kind do i use? Yes I will most certainly google it, one step ahead of you.

New screen technology on Honda is outdated

Well I just want to hear the opinion of other riders out there. I really love my honda currently happy owner of a CB650R 2025 e-clutch but I feel that compared to the competitors what honda is offering is outdated. No cruise control, no integrated maps, no line indicators for tire PSI, etc.

Options to lower a 2023 SCL500 seat height

I'm hoping to hear some suggestions from folks.

I’m a fairly beginner rider with a 2023 Honda SCL500. It’s a bit too tall for me to fully flat-foot at stops, so I’m looking to drop the riding height by at least an inch.

I'd prefer not to do any crazy mechanical mods that mess with the bike. (AKA, I'd rather not order a lowering kit from japan)

  • The owner's manual mentioned Adjusting the Rear Suspension. Does that make any meaningful difference?
  • Some folks online mentioned getting a new seat online but I couldn't figure out how to buy one. Revzilla seemed to only show seat covers for the SCL 500.

Again, would appreciate any insights. Thanks for helpin a newbie out.

Built a plug-and-play live dashboard for my CBR600RR after reverse engineering Honda’s ECU

Hey everyone,

For the past year I've been reverse engineering the factory Honda ECU on my own 2006 CBR600RR as a side project.

The original goal wasn't to build a business(although it eventually did) I just wanted to see what the ECU was actually capable of reading in real time without replacing it.

After a lot of late nights, broken prototypes, and testing on multiple bikes, I finally have a working plug-and-play module that connects to the factory diagnostic connector and streams live ECU data to an iPhone.

Right now it can display things like:

• Live RPM
• Coolant temperature
• Intake air temperature
• Battery voltage
• Throttle position
• MAP sensor
• Ride logging
• Diagnostic codes
• Real-time gauges

It doesn't flash or modify the ECU, doesn't require cutting any wires, and installs by plugging into the factory diagnostic connector under the seat.

If you wanna check it out or receive one of the founding units, you can get one at: https://bonkhq.com

I'm also working on adding support for more Honda models as I test them. It currently supports 2003-2020 CBR600RR and working on 1000RR and 650.

I attached a video from today's ride where I finally got to use it on the road. Seeing live ECU data while riding has been incredibly satisfying after spending so many hours reverse engineering Honda's protocol.

I'd genuinely love feedback from other CBR owners.

What features would you want to see if something like this existed? Any suggestions or ideas are welcome!

Does it sound normal?

Honda cbr125r 2008 not really sure if it sounds normal since i installed a muffler on it.

On 0:35 is the sound of the engine first few seconds is a cold start with rpm going up and down 1500rpm is the idle and goes to 2000rpm then goes down again to idle rpm then up again to 2000rpm then goes down to idle rpm and when it's already hot it's just sits on idle rpm and doesn't go up and down, been having this since i installed a muffler

Cylinder 1 misfire/not running

My 1982 Honda CM200T Twinstar has been having some issues with cylinder 1 since I’ve owned it since May.

Cylinder 1 never seemed to run perfectly, like an intermittent misfire, on the throttle it’d run just fine and smoothly.

I didn’t ride it much due to weather, maybe just a couple times a week. I went to start it up today and cylinder 1 was just not running. I thought it would run fine again after it warmed up as it’s only 14°C out.

Anyway after shutting the choke off, cylinder 1 would still not run and would on a rare occasion fire. Trying to rev it would start to kill it like it was cold. After fully warming it up I took it for a ride, and only one cylinder. Both would occasionally fire together and I’ve have power, but it was mostly just operating on cylinder 2.

Onto the testing, cylinder 1 plug was black and wet with fuel, cylinder 2 plug was black but dry. Both tailpipes are sooty but cylinder 1 more-so. There is also what I believe to be fuel vapour coming from the Cyl 1 exhaust.

Swapping the plugs around and it ran just like before, both plugs have a perfect spark.
I tried starting it with the fuel on, shutting the fuel off, the bike would slowly run smoother and rev up until dying.

The previous owner who restored it put a cheap aftermarket carb in and that’s my suspect. There was some fuel sitting on the top of the carb as well. Definitely running rich but I’m not great with carburetors and older motors.

Anything helps as of right now, not really wanting to play $200/hr for a shop to diagnose and fix.

did we get scammed? Bought a 1989 GL1500 Goldwing project but a thick battery wire is completely cut... need advice

Hey guys, my riend and I recently bought a 1989 Honda Goldwing GL1500 (US Edition with some airbrush fairing) as a project to work on. We paid around 3500€ with a shitload of spare parts, but honestly we feel pretty scammed right now. To make matters worse, our landlord changed and we suddenly lost our garage space, so the bike has to go ASAP because we have nowhere to put it. the previous owner told us the engine was rebuilt and only ran 200km since then, but it sat for a while. The brakes and everything seem to work, it has all papers, 2 keys and is accident-free. BUT there is this huge, thick cable right next to the battery that is just completely cut/severed. Obviously it wont start like this. Do you guys know what that wire usually goes to? Is it an easy fix or did the previous owner hide a massive electrical nightmare? We don't have the space or tools to figure it out ourselves now.

We are trying to sell it now for 2800€ just to get rid of it. We are located in Feldkirch, Austria (near the German/Swiss border). The deal includes a ridiculous amount of extras like a whole second engine, a spare frame, shocks, a complete extra wiring harness and tons of other stuff. We could also sell parts separately if someone just wants the extra engine or something. Is that a fair price? We are both kinda poor and try to get as much back as possible.

Does 3k sound like we got totally ripped off for this? And if anyone from Austria, Germany or Switzerland is looking for a winter project or parts, please hit me up or come take a look. Any advice on the cut wire would be amazing, thanks guys!

CL 500 // Will the power be enough for an experienced rider looking to step down from 1000cc bikes? Anyone done it?

I know this is a stupid question but bear with me.

The last bike I owned was an MT09, and before that a BMW R1250R. Both great bikes, but I really love twisting throttles and squeezing engines. If I did that on any of the former two, I would not be typing this right now.

So I have been wanting to scale down from too much power. My sweet spot is 50Nm of torque between 50-70hp. Very few modern bikes still offer that.

One bike I keep coming back to is the CL 500. It was the first bike I rode after my hearing-damage induced 4-year hiatus (despite earplugs...) last year. And I recently rode it again just two weeks ago.
The feedback as I recorded it for myself was simple: Fun bike, great ergos, Honda reliability, good modding potential, great power for the city, lacks on country roads though.
Since I intend to travel (solo, but obv with luggage), the last point is a big deal. I know people tour on them and are happy. Tbf one of the coolest tours I ever did was on my 30hp DRZ400SM. Yet I still worry if it's enough.

What's your take? Who has the bike? Who likes the power, who got rid of it because it was missing just that bit more?
FWIW, my alternative is a Z650RS, which I have owned before, but I am just not excited about it.

^((PS.: Funny enough, I had completely rejected the CL 500 after I tested it a few weeks ago. But then last week I tested an R3 with only 42hp, and I had a great time on it. Made me wonder if the CL suffered in comparison to the Speed Twin 900 I had rented that day...))
