What is this kind of thread called?

So I've only been learning machine sewing and more traditional hand-stitched embroidery this last year or so, but I've been shopping around for materials for a few projects sort of absent-mindedly.

I was in Japan for a friend's wedding over Summer, and I bought a roll of this sort of unwoven stranded floss thread/yarn that I loved the look of since it's seemingly an even blend of 8 continuous distinct threads of 4-5 different colors spooled for sewing with them all together and getting a really dynamic pretty texture since no stitch looks uniform with any other because the 8 threads are completely unwoven and unwound.

I've been loving this thread but every time I use it, I get afraid I'll never be able to find anything else like it since I don't seem to be able to find anything online describing a term I can use to find a similar material!

I'm down to planning how I might be able to spin my own somehow from different single-strand threads because it would kill me to have no other way of getting more like this to decorate more durable and intricate projects.
