5 sales in 5 months selling Indian men's formalwear on Etsy — low traffic, need honest feedback

Hi r/EtsySellers,

I've been running my Etsy shop for about 5 months now and I'm stuck at just 5 sales. I sell handcrafted Indian men's formalwear — sherwanis, tuxedos, Bandhgala suits, Nehru jackets, and kurta sets — primarily targeting the Indian diaspora in the US, UK, and Canada shopping for weddings and special occasions.

Here's where I currently stand:

- 51 active listings, all on sale (20–45% off)

- Etsy Ads running on weekends only, ~$1.50/day budget

- Linked Instagram and Pinterest accounts

- 1 review (4 stars), 6 admirers

- I use premium fabrics and ship with full tracking

- Product photos are currently AI-generated (I have all physical products and plan to reshoot with a real model soon)

My main struggles are low shop traffic and almost no conversions. I've done some basic SEO in my titles and tags but I'm not sure if I'm targeting the right search terms for my audience.

  1. Does a shop like mine look trustworthy to a first-time buyer? What would make you bounce?

  2. Are listing titles and tags strong enough for the diaspora wedding market?

  3. Should I restructure my ad strategy — run daily at a lower budget vs. weekends only?

  4. Any other changes you'd prioritize before spending more on ads?

I'm a small independent seller from Punjab, India — any honest advice, even if it's harsh, is really appreciated. Thank you.

5 sales in 5 months selling Indian men's formalwear on Etsy — low traffic, need honest feedback on my shop

Hi r/EtsySellers ,

I've been running my Etsy shop (Akal Designer) for about 5 months now and I'm stuck at just 5 sales.

- I use premium fabrics and ship with full tracking

My main struggles are low shop traffic and almost no conversions. I've done some basic SEO in my titles and tags but I'm not sure if I'm targeting the right search terms for my audience.

A few specific things I'd love feedback on:

  1. Does my shop look trustworthy to a first-time buyer? What would make you bounce?

  2. Are my listing titles and tags strong enough for the diaspora wedding market?

  3. Should I restructure my ad strategy — run daily at a lower budget vs. weekends only?

  4. Any other changes you'd prioritise before spending more on ads?
