3.6 Science GPA, 3.7 Cumulative GPA. What are my chances?
Hello Everyone!
I’m hoping to apply to medical school in around one year’s time and was wondering if my application seemed at all competitive or is on the right track for medical school applications. Currently my stats are around:
- 3.7 Cumulative GPA, 3.6 Science GPA. Majored in Life Sciences, minored in Chemistry.
- Around 700 hours of research in entomology and (hopefully) one publication in the literature.
- Around 50 hours of Clinical Shadowing (Urology) so far.
- Acted as an officer of 3 clubs during my time at university, two social/arts clubs and founded the undergraduate entomology club.
- Currently no Clinical work experience or volunteer experience, though I do intend to volunteer at a few places this summer and work as an EMT next fall and winter before I apply.
- Taking the MCAT this next winter so no MCAT score yet
Obviously I still have some things left to go before I can apply, but does my application seemed good so far? Is my GPA at all competitive or good enough for medical school? When it comes to volunteer experience, where and what should I volunteer for?
Any help would be appreciated, thank you!
