Responsibilities

Hi all. I’m a CoS to the CEO for a legal tech company. I recently was asked to step into an interim VP of Product Ops” role, taking over our VP of Product’s day to day management and people management responsibilities as well as to clean up and fix the product team’s structure and implement process. Our VP of Product has stepped into a “strategy and visionary role” separating it out from people management.

I’m struggling to find the motivation to take this over and “fix” the problem. It’s so different from my normal responsibilities (which I really do enjoy) and there’s no repercussions for our VP of Product, who caused the issues to begin with.

Is this a responsibility you feel you would have as a CoS?

Fearful Avoidant (disorganized) healing

My therapist recently told me (32F) that I have a disorganized attachment style (fearful avoidant). I’ve been with my husband for 5 years, married almost 2, and so desperately want to heal because 1) I deserve it and 2) he deserves it. He’s the best, most patient and loving man I know. I recently went no contact with my mom, who is the source of a lot of childhood into adulthood trauma. I have a massive amount of negative self image/talk, and emotional dysregulation (while also being incredibly emotionally aware?). The rational part of my brain knows how much my husband loves me, how much I love him, and when I’m feeling this attachment style. But I just can’t seem to get out of my head.

Seeking advice from others who have this attachment style and have made steps towards healing. What have you done? ❤️‍🩹

Deciding to go NC

I (32F) am the only biological kid between my parents. My mom had me at 20, dad 22, divorced and both remarried by the time they were 25 and 27. They each ended up having 2 kids with their new spouses.

I’ve always had an incredibly complicated relationship with my mom. She’s always treated me differently, is a narcissist, and at the end of the day… just simply does not care about me. Doesn’t love that I’m a product of my dad.

Throughout my adult life (since I moved out for college at 18), we’ve had a low to no contact relationship. But this year something shifted after I ended up in the hospital for a health scare due to work stress and doctors telling me I needed to regulate my nervous system. I immediately contacted my therapist and told her we needed to discuss my mom and I needed to process our relationship. Which has taken me here. This page was provided to me by my therapist because I’m constantly curious about others experiences and how they decided to go NC. I frequently downplay my experiences with a “it wasn’t that bad” and “of course she loves me, she’s my mom!” But at the end of the day, I need to accept that it is better for me to be NC.

So I guess the questions are:

  1. how did you decide to go NC

  2. how did you handle going NC (did you have a conversation or did you quiet quit)

  3. how did you / are you managing the aftermath of your decision (do you still have relationships with other family members, does the estranged parent try to reach out to you directly or through others? Etc)

  4. how are you doing now after being NC?

First time poster and just genuinely in a place of disappointment and hurt that it has come to knowing this is the right thing to do.

TIA 💛
