[Iwantout] 26M India->Dubai

I’m a software engineer currently working at one of the top MNC companies in india. Compensation is decent but I’ve been seriously thinking about moving abroad for better pay, exposure, and long-term growth.
Would love to hear from people who’ve actually made this move or are in the process.

Some specific things I want to understand:
• Which countries are most realistic right now ?
. What is the starting point for it , internal transfers are closed for now.

Any suggestions will be appreciated

Currently at a top FAANG in India — seriously exploring moving abroad. What are the realistic options in 2025-26?

Hey Everyone,

I'm a software engineer currently working at one of the top FAANG companies in India. Compensation is decent but I've been seriously thinking about moving abroad for better pay, exposure, and long-term growth.

Would love to hear from people who've actually made this move or are in the process.

Some specific things I want to understand:

- Which countries are most realistic right now — US, Canada, Germany, Netherlands, UK, Australia, Singapore? Given the current visa situation (especially US H-1B lottery odds), which ones have the best ROI on effort?

- Does a FAANG India brand carry real weight internationally during interviews or is it treated the same as any other Indian IT company abroad?

- Internal transfer vs. external application — is it worth trying the internal transfer route within the same company first, or just apply externally?

- How long did the process actually take from decision to landing abroad?

- Any specific gotchas for someone coming from India that nobody talks about openly?

Not looking for generic "just apply on LinkedIn" advice. Want to hear real experiences — timelines, what worked, what didn't.

Thanks in advance.
