Rod/Reel Advice

Rod/Reel Advice

I plan on going charter fishing in a few weeks and would like to use my own gear, if possible.

I fish for bass and have rods ranging anywhere from 6’6 - 7’4 in just about every power and action. However, idk much about saltwater fishing….

What would be a good rod and reel set up for a trip like this: https://youtu.be/YTpIht6-Le0?si=7IK4fTpTW7SBJt0l

Kayak Wheels (Sidekick, Boonedox)

For those with a sidekick or Boonedox, when exactly do you lift the wheels when launching and exiting?

I’m tying to visual the steps in my head (taking the LTE out for the first time next week) but can’t seem to fully grasp how this is done. I’ve watched several YT videos and some walk their kayak in the water until the wheels are off the ground and then lift the wheels and then hop on. Others, such as Greg Blanchard, somehow lift the wheels while he’s already sitting on his kayak.

I’d like to be able to reach back and lift the wheels while I’m sitting like how Greg does, but wouldn’t the weight put pressure on the wheel mount and potentially damage it?

Set up Question

I’m setting up my new Native LTE and can’t seem to figure out if I installed this correctly:

This is how my rudder is positioned when my rudder handle is at 12oclock.

Is this correct or should the edge of the rudder be centered when the handle is at 12oclock?

PS - I know, rookie question…..

How effective is a kayak anchor? It’s not uncommon to see 15MPH winds where I wish, especially in the afternoon, but installing something like the Anchor Wizard seems so bulky and possibly taking place of the motor mount I plan to install in the future.

Do most kayak anglers use some sort of anchor system?
