The concept of presidency is some kind of nonsense!

In my view, this is the main erosion of democracy; I would even say it’s the rust of democracy, which prevents it from functioning properly. In the modern Western‑democratic world, there are only two types of elections — for parliament and for president, the two most important bodies of power that are responsible for law‑making. Of course, sometimes there are also popular referendums, as in Switzerland, but still. Basically, only the president and the parliament are responsible for law‑making. But even if there are referendums, what’s the point if the president can override both the people’s opinion and the experts’ opinion in parliament with a single decision? Let’s not call this “Democracy,” but simply “Limited Authoritarianism.” Now imagine: you are the initiator of your revolutionary idea, which has the potential to change your country for the better. You collect many signatures for a petition supporting this idea, the parliament approves it, but the president doesn’t like something and simply doesn’t sign the law. That’s it: he has overridden the opinions of both the experts and the people. Is that how it should be?
