Received this today straight from Germany, the Laco Pilot Watch Basic GENF.2.D 40mm with the Ronda 505 Quartz movement. I specifically went quartz this time since I didn’t want to add another automatic to the already growing pile.
If you order directly through Laco, you can option an AR coating on the crystal (inside and outside) and they’ll do free engraving, which is a nice touch. They also tossed in one of their little fighter pilot bears, which was pretty cool.
First impressions are honestly really strong. It feels nicer than my Hamilton Khaki Field (especially with the AR coating lmao). The lume is INSANITY and actually lasts, and the strap is comfortable right out of the box without needing any break-in.
I’ve been eyeing something from IWC for a while, but this pretty much scratches that itch without the stress. I don’t have to baby it, worry about banging it into a door frame, or think twice about wearing it out.
Curious what everyone here thinks about Laco.
This watch has been catching my eye every time I’ve shopped at Costco. It went on sale and I couldn’t pass it up. This will be replacing my broken Timex chronograph (somehow skipped a tooth). It is massive though at 44mm, I have a 7 inch wrist but in the mirror picture I don’t think it looks half bad.
