Hack and slash game. The guy would sulk over this dead wife/mother who would appear in flashback cutscenes and tell him to move on. His hair was spiky and he would fight off many robots at a time. Perhaps the robots were cute and round.
The game had English voice overs (could have been subs but I am almost positive it was fully voiced in English)
Edit: He had a sword and maybe a gun too.

I watched it between 2007-2010 so it must have come out early 2000s.
The setting was Soviet Union and a destroyed city (Moscow, Stalingrad?). A group of distinctive people take refuge in a big building, that could have been a theater or a church. One of them is an actress/singer and is not used to having seen rough conditions and still keeps her glamor and has self entitlement.

The movie is centered around the group and their quibbles. A night spent talking to each other and surviving. It could have been in English or Russian. I don't recall.
