Could Sasquatch intermix with humans?

Really long post ahead: So basically I had this idea sitting in my mind ever since I heard about a South American version of Sasquatch that supposedly has a rather interesting quality that matches up alot with something that I've basically grown up hearing but never connected to the phenomenon of Sasquatch; and that is, intermixing (or cross-breeding, if you prefer that).

There are various legends in South American folklore that detail the encounters with Bipedal, intelligent apes, known by many different names such as the Ucumar from Chile or the Mapinguari from the Amazon rainforest. Often times, these legends detail a rather taboo but well known tendency of these creatures, which is adultery with human females. Now, on first glance this sounds weirdly perverted and absurd.

Similar species do engage in such a manner with each other in nature. Our ancestors have done it as well with the Neanderthal, resulting in us modern humans. But obviously that doesn't justify a weird little legend from a different part of the world.

Until it clicked. This whole idea of producing offspring or laying with some bipedal Ape-like beast was not native to those particular people. Which made me think, what if there is a kernel of truth to this?

#Vanara

The legend of this race is perhaps, unknowingly THE most famous account of intermixing in Sasquatch and humans. Since the legend stems from my home country, naturally I know the most about this one. For some context, Hinduism has 2 primary epics that are highly popular and form the basis of lots of traditions; one of them, is the Ramayana. In this tale, there are mentions of many pre-established races that can be found in other important texts of Hinduism such as Devas, Asuras, Apsaras (celestial nymphs) and many more. But, at the very core of this story and perhaps the most important race of all, which are first mentioned in this text only, are the Vanaras.

From the very first time they are mentioned, it is clearly established that they are exceptionally unique. I won't get into too many details but just know that each and every PURE Vanara is described as tall, strong, hairy, intelligent and most importantly, bipedal. They have a proper society along with a monarchy, their language is of course different but with effort they can communicate in human languages too. They even wear clothes, use weapons and adorn themselves with various accessories.

From every detail of theirs, and even their modern and ancient depictions they are identifiable as great apes but the thing is, India has no great apes! It never had any since the humans evolved which is why I have a strong reason to suspect that the Vanaras are indeed Sasquatch. Their name literally translates to "Forest Men" and the only time someone uses the words "Markat" or "Kapi" (which are the actual Sanskrit words used to describe monkeys, not apes or ape-likes) they are almost always used as a means to mock.

The particular Vanara that I want to talk about first is Hanuman. He is the most popular case of this. He is also a deity and one of the main characters of this epic but if we strip away the mythological tall tales, it leaves Hanuman as a half-human and half-ape biped. His father Kesari is a pure Vanara and a minister in the royal court of Kishkinda (the Vanara kingdom deep in the woods) and his mother is Anjana, a nymph. There is also a clear distinction between Hanuman and the other Vanaras as Hanuman is less hairy, more fluent in human languages and exhibits less animalistic traits as compared to everyone else

.

Another instance comes from the tale of the Vanara brothers, Vali (Yes, Bali, the place is named after this character) and Sugreev both of whom are also half-human. Vali and Sugreev also go on to pursue Tara, another human woman and Tara even gives birth to Vali's son, Angad. Even according to many legends, Hanuman goes on to marry a human princess.

Throughout this epic it is quite established that the half-human Vanaras are more intelligent than the pure ones but there is also a huge stigma attached to this whole thing. Like I observed with the South American version, this whole arrangement is considered taboo by humans(which is why I used the word adultery). The marriage of Hanuman's parents was literally the result of a curse upon his mom.

Although I don't believe that these creatures still exist in India as by Hindu lore itself, the Vanaras were almost extinct after a few thousand years of the Ramayana, when the Mahabharata takes place. In that epic, Hanuman is the only Vanara left. And also at the end of Ramayana, Sugreev who is the present Vanara king orders all Vanaras to venture towards all the 4 directions.

There is also the legend of the Yeti but this post is getting too long so what do you guys think of this?

1973 "Bigfoot" Scream-Elk meadows. Sasquatch or not, this is the most terrifying sound I've ever heard.

What animal could this possibly be? For anyone experienced with the NA wilderness.

This is kinda shady I suppose cause the title says 73' when the video says 86' but it kept appearing in my fyp and it's pretty horrifying ngl.

Need help buying a switch (new or pre-owned)

I main ps5 but for various reasons I want a handheld too. Steamdeck and ROG are too expensive also one is unavailable, so that leaves the nintendo switch as the only option left. I’m happy with either one of switch 1/switch oled/switch lite/switch 2. The brand new ones are costly like the switch 2 is 55k+ but the lite is somewhat fair at 20k around. Just to be sure I also checked for second hands although I don’t have any experience buying that so I’m absolutely not sure how that market is in India.

The second hand ones hardly cross 30k and I even found one with a game bundle. I just don’t trust it. I checked Gameloot and another site I don’t remember. Any of you guys have experience buying second hand consoles? Also which of ver. should I get? I’m not looking to play heavy games on it, just a few exclusives like animal crossing, tomodachi life, zelda etc.

Why are Asian parents so selfish?? Will I ever be enough for them?

Kinda long sorry

I (16F) recently discovered this sub and…wow just the amount of people with similar experiences to mine is well, first of all really sad but also oddly comforting. I read so many posts here about people sharing stories of their parents and I just so happened to have an argument with my mom yesterday so I thought I’d share it here, who knows maybe I’ll find some hope here...

Just for some background info, I’ve always been really interested in animals and ecology and so I’ve considered 2 career options for me (Veterinary physician and Zoologist). I know my true happiness lies in studying nature and even if i don’t make money, i would forever regret not having atleast tried to pursue my passion. The first time I brought my dream upto my parents they both shut me up by saying “it’s not a real job, anyone can do that” and their response has been turning increasingly dismissive and even threatening as this topic comes up over and over again as I grow up. I will probably never forget the way my mom made me cry and straight up barred me from vet med saying “you’ll either be a dermat or a gynae, that’s it.” in the most threatening tone you could probably imagine, it was so bad infact that my older brother stepped in and yelled at her to stop ruining my life.

Last night, my mom and I had an argument because me and my cousin were talking about my future (now, mom knows that I want to be a scientist but she doesnt know the specifics) as soon as she heard the word “dogs” there comes that fcking tone again along with demanding I make it “clear” what exactly I wanna study and that was it man, it was like the last straw. I snapped and told her to #1 stop assuming shit and accept that she’s grossly uneducated and I indeed DO know better than her and #2 it’s none of her business so stop pestering me. I couldn’t get a good night’s rest bcz she instilled this self doubt inside of me and since i woke up I’ve been thinking all about it. The only conclusion that I came to is that they’re selfish fcks who don’t care about their kids but rather chase status, societal validation and approval.

The worst part is, I’m academically gifted and i was raised in such a way that I looked at kids being tutored as inferior bcz I didn’t need that (not until last year) I just wish I had let go of that view, admitted that I did need help much earlier, thankfully now I do have a tutor. My 86% in boards wasn’t enough for them..

They only care about what makes them look good. It is actually sort of funny in a cruel way how quite literally none of my positives are DUE to my parents but DESPITE my parents. They always try to dim my light, when I used to watch nature documentaries as a kid for hours and play pretend to be animals my mom yet again, scolded me and threatened me so bad that I started treating my passion as a crime. She made me stop watching them and somehow sowed this seed of shame within me where it took me years to finally get back to my interest. They never let me watch youtube, play video games or read books but today they go on touting to their friends how fluent my English is as if they have made any contribution to it whatsoever. They never let me step out of the house unsupervised, went on to glamourise my social anxiety as “that’s how girls should be, so timid and shy and reserved” but now act surprised when I cant order a pizza on my own. They never let me hang out with other kids and now act like they don’t know why I think I’m a freak who doesnt belong. They don’t let me do art and really they’re the perfect embodiment of the phrase “rain on your parade”

I feel so stuck because at the end of the day, it doesnt matter how much I hate them, they still have the checkbook. I need them to atleast get my bachelor’s but i have no idea how I’m supposed to convince them to let me pursue my dreams. I’ve looked in into scholarships and getting a full ride is near impossible due to a lack of extracurriculars (thanks mom and dad) so even my grades won’t save me. I just wanna get out of this house and out of this stupid family.
