Bald, unbothered, and finally done hiding my alopecia

I've had alopecia for 12 years. Started after my first baby. Hid it with wigs, cornrows, crochet — you name it.

Then stress (divorce, grad school, a very bossy 3-year-old) took my edges too.

For 3 years I did steroid injections. Saw progress. But I was tired of hiding.

So on January 25th, I cut my locs.

This isn't a sad story. It's a "I'm clearing space for growth" story.

I documented it. If you want to see: https://youtu.be/4FZA8MNUd9c?si=r2p0JQfIoveCiYM5

Happy to answer questions about steroid injections, locs, or how to explain alopecia to a toddler who wants to "draw on mommy's head."
