Choosing a wheel design

Didnt think this would be such a hard decision.

1st photo : Silver Apex EC-7R $1300 for the set no tires

18x9.5

2nd photo : Bronze TE037 Dura $2200 for the set with tires.

Since I dont have fancy brembos to show off I'm partial on the apex wheels, but those TE037 looks so sick, very unique wheel indeed. Photo is of my personal BRZ parked outside my house. AI was used to generate the wheels onto the car.

Worth? Found a used set of these Forged TRD wheels for $800 with decent tires.

They are forged but black, so I might get then powder coated silver. Also 8' wide. Comes with tires with 8/32 tread. It sounds like a good deal but idk, what do you guys think?

Who needs a front plate anyway

Anyone in CA get shit for no front plate? I love the BRZ front end except for that god awful plate integrated plate bracket thing. Bumper plugs coming soon. Maybe a plate relocation kit too. 🤔

Some basic cosmetic mods I did today. Got rid of the stock braces and installed a honeycomb grill. Also added these door protector guards I got from Subimods. Successful Sunday funday indeed.

I've been driving stick for about a year now since I got my BRZ last April. I got an exhaust, and it's not even super loud, but I've gotten pretty good at downshift rev-matching, especially a turn or corner I'm familiar with is coming up. Now, because of the exhaust, those downshifts make a little popping sound. My friend asked me why I do that (the downshift rev-matching and popping) and said I'm wrong for doing it every time I slow down. He thinks I should just use my brakes to slow down and then shift into the right gear when I need to.

Here's my thing: I prefer being in the right gear for the whole turn. If I'm in 6th and slow down to 30 mph in the middle of a turn, it feels awkward to shift, and I need to speed up at the peak of the turn. Doing that in 6th just bogs the engine and doesn't feel good. So instead, I downshift rev-match into a lower gear before the turn, let the car slow down, and doing all this is super smooth, the car doesn't jerk or lurch forward at all. I can then carry out the turn and accelerate in the right gear. It's not just incredibly satisfying, but the car handles amazing when I do it. It doesnt feel like I'm pushing the car more than its own capabilities or even my own.

I always thought this was the right way to do it, using engine braking safely without over-revving the engine or making the car lurch violently. I'm actually pretty proud of myself for almost mastering it, and now I'm being told it's wrong? I figured I'd ask here since a lot of you have been driving manuals a lot longer than I have. He also thinks I'm an ass hat for doing it, idk is it really that frowned upon? I dont run a pop tune or headers just a basic catback exhaust probably one on the quitest available for this platform. This car just has natural pops when you down shift at the right moment with even the most tame exhausts.

*pic of my car for attention with my new front lip 😁* Also I know about bumper plugs, I just havent gotten around to order some yet lol.
