Just to be clear I'm not talking about the recently released translation where they backport the DS translation, I'm referring to the one that was announced around November that it was almost done. It feels like since then there hasn't been any news.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and those two albums were considered polarizing when they first released, but I thought people had grown to love those albums as time passed. With the release of Inferno I feel like I've seen a lot of posts talking about those two albums being considered a dark spot in their discography.
With the Fatal Frame 2 remake coming out, I've noticed a lot of people complain about the characters looking too much like dolls and not realistic enough. This is confusing since the series has always gone for a blend of anime and realism since the first game, so this isn't anything new for the series. I'm not sure why people would want to change it either, since it gives the series more unique identity in it's art style. I also don't really think they look like dolls either, or that it was ever the intention, it's just a newer shot at that realistic anime style from the older games.
I think some people have complaints about some of their expressions being a little stiff compared to the original, which is reasonable.
I find it so odd people used to complain about later games making Cloud more of a pretty boy, when even back in the days of the original FF7 coming out Nomura described Cloud as being androgynous and beautiful. I think with bishounen characters not being as well known in the west in the late 90s people didn't really have that as a reference for Cloud, so when later designs made that more apparent people felt like it was a departure, when it wasn't at all.
