150 guests wedding budget

Hi brides! How much are you spending on your wedding for 150 guests? We’re approaching $70k, and I just can’t believe it 😩 Our initial budget was $40k. We’re having a formal wedding with a plated dinner, and I can’t help but feel a little guilty about spending this much money on one day. At the same time, it’ll definitely be the wedding of my dreams, and we won’t be going into debt for it.

I’m looking for a very affordable printer that I can use for DIY projects for my wedding. I’ll probably only use it for that, since we don’t print much at home and already have a black and white printer.

Has anyone prepared their files as PDFs and then printed them at Staples or somewhere similar and then brought them home to cut with a Cricut? I feel like that would be the most cost effective option since I wouldn’t have to buy a printer, but it also sounds very time consuming.

I’m feeling really overwhelmed and discouraged while planning our October 2026 wedding in southeast Michigan. We’re expecting around 150 guests.

At first, we didn’t choose a modern venue in downtown Detroit because we thought it would be more expensive. Instead, we went with a “cheaper,” all-inclusive venue that offered an outdoor feel under a big white tent. Now, after all the additional fees and upgrades we didn’t realize we’d need (like floor length linens) we’re looking at spending around $50k

It makes me really sad to think that the same budget could have gotten us a nicer wedding at a different venue. I feel like I’m constantly trying to compensate by making the tent look better, and even things like the portable “fancy” restrooms are stressing me out. I know they’re common for outdoor weddings, but after spending $50k, you’d expect nicer facilities.

I’m also doing a lot of DIY, including florals, and trying to cut down costs as much as we can.

Am I overthinking this? Would a wedding in downtown Detroit actually be a lot more expensive?
