How bad is it?

I’m a novice when it comes to mechanical stuff. Is this no longer drivable? I bought the jeep for 500$, everything else works and runs fine. Just curious about the structural integrity with that amount of rust. Thanks.

New To All This

So, at 30 I’m basically just starting. Better late vs never I suppose. Although at the moment my income isn’t very high and I can only realistically put in like 100$ a month in for the time being. Now the question, what the heck should I be buying? After what I thought was good research I bought into FFIJX in Fidelity. But after reading through posts on this thread, I see nobody is really suggesting that. I was more or less looking for a set it and forget it approach that would start out semi aggressive and get more conservative as I approached retirement age. Tips or pointers welcomed. Thanks!

Feel like I’m Eating More Now vs Before I Started

As the title says. I stared counting calories and logging legit everything. Using a calorie deficit for my goal weight.

The weird thing is I feel like I’m eating wayyy more vs before I started doing this.

Im focusing my diet a lot more on protein and fiber though. So that’s probably why?

I just think I may have been eating fewer calories before I started tracking and seeing my allowed amount daily, has actually made me eat more.

I mean it’s been 10 days and I’m down 4 pounds. So I guess something is working.

Possible to Pay off All Debt in a Year?

I think I basically already know. I’m going to break it down anyway and how the budget looks.

- Debt = $2,500 in CC with a 19% APR. And student loans totaling $12,400 with an average interest rate of 4.09%.

- Budget= Essentials… rent, utilities, groceries, transportation, pets, etc. At $2,750/ month.

Take home pay= $4,896 a month.

+ $2,146 left over after essentials.

-22$ a month on subscription

+ $2,124/ month
+$1,800 bonus at the end of year

not really sure what we spend going out to eat, events, etc. but I think we could cut some of that back for now.

$14,900- $1,800/12 = $1,092 a month towards debt. I know that doesn’t include accruing interest but it will get us darn close.

Still leaves $1,032/month left. minus “fun money”.
I also answered my own question typing that all out. It is in fact very possible. duh

I guess my only question is where to put the savings? We just have basic saving accounts.

Knee Extension

4 weeks two days out. Bucket handle medial repair. Just wondering if it’s normal to still not be able to reach a full 0 degree extension yet. I’m working diligently at PT but maybe 5-10 degrees short of full extension. My PT said it’s kind of expected after being in an immobilizer for a long time. Wondering if anyone had a similar ROM timeline.

Pay of CC Debt or Save

I have high CC debt for my standards, as I was one to never carry a balance and always pay off immediately. Due to some unforeseeable life circumstances I racked it up close to the max. Just started a new gig and looking to pay it all off by the end of the year, start 2027 debt free (I carry no other debt). The only thing is to make it work I would have to pay about 570$ a month for 6 months (boom it is gone). After adding up all my expenses that would only leave me to save about $400 in 6 months, it's not that my expenses are high. I just don't earn a heck of a lot at the moment. Wondering if it makes more sense to pay half of the $570 a month and save more, that would put me at about a year to pay off the CC. I just get anxious carrying any debt, do not like it all. So trying to get it paid off as soon as realistically possible. Thanks in advance for any input.

One Month Post Op Bucket Handle Medial Repair

Hi all. Just wanted to share my experience one month post-op. I tore my meniscus in late April. It took roughly one month to get a diagnosis and get into surgery. My surgery was late May and I am about 4 weeks out today. I got a repair vs cut, as the surgeon figured best route to take given how much he would have had to take out (a very significant tear). I was happy about the repair and less happy about the recovery timeline. So below I will share a few things about recovery if its relevant to anyone.

-The first couple weeks it was rough. I was very much in pain and mentally it was tough. I am an active person and not being able to do much was a bummer. My advice is pick up a sedentary hobby, read, find a podcast, or find a game to play. My local library lets you rent video games. I am not a gamer, but got into playing Civilization a bit to pass the time. Just find something to take your mind off the long recovery.

-By week two I was in PT. Mostly working on flexion exercises and ROM. Some misunderstood directions had me thinking I could not bend the knee at all, even when sitting. Surgeon told me at the first post- op that I could have been (will be different for everyone). This led to only 35 degree flexion. So PT had me working hard on that.

-Going on week four. I still have some swelling (I think some is still normal). I have got my flexion up to 86 degrees (with a little assistance from PT). I am on a recumbent bike for about 7 mins to start PT now. Pain is almost non existent. A little hear and there. Especially after PT or first thing getting up in the morning.

-I have my second post op next week. That will be 5 weeks out and I expect to hear if I should get rid of the crutches and my weight bearing guidelines.

All in all I believe my recovery is going well. Happy to answer any questions should anyone be wondering.

Passing the Time After Repair

Those who have had a meniscus repair surgery, what did you do to pass the time in the recovery and healing phase? I am one week out of surgery and I can already tell being patient is going to be the hardest part. I’m pretty active and all my hobbies are activities I can’t currently do. Hiking, running, sport, etc.

How long NWB? Medial Meniscus Repair

I went in for a medial meniscus repair surgery 4 days ago, had a bucket handle tear. My post op work says to discontinue the use of crutches after 3 days. Everything I’m reading about repairs, I surely think this must be a mistake. I don’t want to do anything wrong in the healing process. So, I’m currently still using the crutches. Any thoughts? I do have a post op with the surgeon next week. Thinking I will just be NWB and consult him at the appointment. Hard sometimes to get in contact with his office.

Meniscus Tear. What to Expect?

Hi all. Just found out recently that I did in fact tear my meniscus. To be specific it’s a medial meniscus bucket handle tear, torn during a soccer match. Doc has set me up with surgery next week. I was told it’s likely going to be a sewing back on situation, rather than cutting it out. But can’t know for sure until they are under the microscope. I’m just wondering general recovery timelines of anyone who had the same injury. Thanks! Not sure if it matters but for reference 30 M.
