Madness on the UK Green Party reddit...

Madness on the UK Green Party reddit...

The point above was "we need to do something about the people defending the pro-Palestine antisemites in the party".

Mostly the subreddit is great but we do have a fair few tankies who arrived from Your Party.

And I don't know how we're supposed to get rid of them.

Opinion: The Green Party needs a centralised vetting proccess.

This is really getting ridiculous. Chris Kennedy, our former candidate for Makerfield, shared content by a Neo-Nazi and made comments about "false flag attacks" about the Hatzola Ambulance incident.

I don't blame Polanski. I do not blame the Green leadership. They are not responsible.

But it's very clear at this point that the local parties cannot be trusted. Their vetting proccesses are frankly shite if this keeps happening - especially for such a big by-election. I think we need a centralised vetting proccess, or this is going to keep happening.

I love that we've got a devolved party structure. I think we need devolved party structure.

But not for vetting. This has gone too far, and Zack and the Green Party leadership are being made to look at best sloppy and at worst malicious. And it's not in any way their fault.

We are going to keep ahving problems if we don't centralise the vetting proccess. Prowl the candidate's social media, every single time. We can't just work off trust.

I hate that I'm asking for stronger centralisation, but at this point, I think it's our only choice.

Chris Kennedy to stand for Greens in Makerfield to 'press Andy Burnham' says Polanski

This feels like the best option. I think if we can be assured that Burnham will give us proportional representaton, it is our duty to stand aside/run a paper candidate. If he won't, then sure, give him hell.

But proportional representation is absolutely vital to stopping Reform and increasing the Green's power in government, and so if we can pressure him into a deal, we absolutely should.

Just another day on TankieTheDeprogram

This is neo-Nazi adjacent. From clowns who praise North Korea.

Deprogram appears to me to be just pure fascists that like claiming leftists astetics. Like, so much worse than most of the tankiesubreddits I've seen.

Opinon: We need to reclaim "bothesidesing"

I know "bothesidesing" a conflict is supposed to be both sides are equally at fault, but it seems at this point is an insult thrown at anyone acknowledging that there is some level of fault on bothesides. Criticising some elements of the Palestinian resistance (i.e. Islamic fundementalism and civilian killing) is not denying the Palestinians their right to resist, it is not being "arrogant" or "telling them how to resist". It is being consistent with our beliefs on human rights. Similarly, it's possible to point out the Nazi legion in Ukraine's ranks and some of their reckless fighting tactics without being considered Pro-Putin stooges or opposing Ukrainian resistance.

Like, being able to see fault on both sides is not the same as thinking both sides are equally at fault. And I'm tired of it being treated so by tankies.

What can I and others like me (as a non-Jewish ally) do to counter the spread of "false flag" conspiracy theories?

Every time there's an attack on the Jewish communities, the comments fill up with cries of "false flag", to the point that there are people out there who seem to not be able to except that Jewish people actually suffer attacks and hatred. Now, the issue with this is a lot of people who spread these aren't actually antisemitic - they just think that it always likely Mossad had something to do with it. I can't tell them it's antisemitic, because then we'll go down the "antisemitism isn't antizionism" rabbit hole.

How do you convince people not to spread conspiracies which are not openly antisemitic but have those underlying tensions - for instance, the Rothchilds? Again, people can just be convinced by spurious evidence that the Rothchilds do control the world, without ever thinking that the reason those conspiracies spread in the first place is because they are Jewish.

Any ways to counter this would be very helpful, thanks. The "false flag" nonsense is one of the things that makes me lose faith in the left occassionally.

Criticising Hamas but supporting Palestinian resistance = Israeli propaganda.

Reposting this because it got taken down because I forgot to censor my own username.

Edit: And just a correction from some of the comments on the previous post, when I said "human shields", I slightly mispoke. I more meant their habit of combat operations inside major cities and civilian areas, which Israel then bombs, killing civilians. Doesn't make the Israeli bombing not a war crime, but this in itself is a war crime. And I know there's some debate over whether the sexual violence Hamas committed was systematic or spontaneous. But it definitely happened.

Tankies on the BDS sub when you criticise Hamas...

Saying that Hamas's political leadership is far-right and that they target civilians, and there should be military resistance to the Israeli occupation (like in Ukraine) without having to rely on Islamist murders is...

Israeli propaganda apparently.

I'd like to see a re-evaluation of Ba'athism.

I've done a significant amount of reading of the founder, Aflaq's texts, and I think the philosophy has suffered a horrific smear as a result of Saddam and Assad. Aflaq himself was properly socialist, viewed Arabism as a cultural and linguistical thing, so essentially a civic nationalist, he hated fascism, left the Syrian Communist Party for dickriding the USSR, wrote stridently against vaungardism and frequently wrote about the difference between Zionism and Judaism. He thought Jewish people were not problematic in his multiethnic and religious "Arab homeland", and actually sympathised with their plight in Europe and advocated Arab States pressuring European nations to improve Jewish rights which would "limit the need for Zionism".

His successors were red fascists, but Aflaq himself was based, and essentially sidelined and condemned to irrelevance when the Ba'athist party was couped by the military leadership.

Critical support for Comrade Farage and Reform UK!

Comrade Farage talks about fighting NATO and EU expansion westward! Clearly an ally of the proletariat and Vladamir Putin's great Soviet Union!

What authoritarian socialists were actually leftist?

Vibe I get on this sub is that we make a division between people who were actually leftist, but also sociopathic demagogues, and red fascists who just do state capitalism wrapped in a red flag. Like Stalin = just a dictator with communist vibes, Castro = genuine socialist but also violent despot.

Which socialist dictators do you think were actually left wing? Ignore the fact that human rights are inherently a left-wing characteristic so they're not good leftists.

Local Elections 2026 Party Switchup

Mostly what I expected but wonderful to see the over half of all people who didn't vote in 2024 but did vote in these local elections voted for us!

Useful check of whether a "socialist" country is actually socialist - banning independent trade unions isn't very leftists of you, comrade...

Stalin's USSR was the first country to recognise Israel legally after it's founding. In the alternative timeline that Israel became a full part of the Eastern Bloc, please respond as tankies to the news coming out of Israel/Palestine.

"Glory to Comrade Netenyahu!"

I want to see the comments brimming with Israel-defending tankies.

FR, why is Rosa Luxemburg so worshiped by Tankies when Stalin hated her?

I mean, Rosa Luxemburg is great, but very anti-authoritarian, and disagreed violently with both Lenin and Stalin on this. Feel like tankies just gloss this over - Luxemburg appears to be hailed as a universal martyr of the left, adored by all sects no matter how little sense it makes.

Opinions on Alexander Kerensky?

My only knowledge of him is really from my history course - I'm more preferable to Martov and the Mencheviks myself, but what do other people think about him. I've heard he was a socialist, but also he continued to drag Russia deeper into WW1 and re-instated the death penalty at the front lines for deserters, as well as being unelected. To me, the cut-off point when the revolution should have stopped was the 1917 Constituent Assembly - and everything was screwed when Lenin ignored the results and couped parliament. But lately I've been reconsidering my evaluation on Kerensky.

What do people here think?

Is Dark Willow actually still Willow?

Exactly what the title says. When Tara dies and Willow goes Dark Willow, the magic consumes her and her personality shifts rapidly. She talks about Willow being "gone" an in third person often. Giles talks about restoring a "crack of humanity" to her, and given Willow is so empathetic, it takes away a large part of what makes Willow Willow. So what do you think? Is Dark Willow just Willow corrupted, or is she possessed by magic remains some fragments of her personality?

Can someone who understands the Scottish voting system more explain this to me? Will the Greens get loads of additional members then given the huge difference between their constituency voting and their regional voting?
