This has to be one of my favorite monuments of all time, the 90th Pennsylvania Infantry monument at Antietam National Battlefield near Miller's Cornfield.

Fort Defiance helped guard the Cumberland River around Clarksville, Tennessee, but it fell once Fort Donelson fell to Union forces in February 1862. Today, you can explore incredible exhibits at the fort site.

Site on Little Round Top on the Gettysburg Battlefield where brigade commander Strong Vincent was wounded. Most people know his subordinate Joshua Chamberlain of the 20th Maine, but Vincent helped hold the brigade together on the hill.

President Andrew Jackson lived in this house while he practiced law in Jonesborough, TN. Jonesborough also served as the capital of the State of Franklin and the Southwest Territory.

As Union General William T. Sherman marched through George and the Carolinas, his troops destroyed, among many things, railroads. They would heat up rails and bend them around objects, like telegraph poles, rendering them useless. Here is a remnant of one of "Sherman's Neckties" or "Mrs. Lincoln's Hairpins" found at the American Civil War Museum in Richmond, VA.

The gloves, pistol, hat, and other items belonging to Confederate Major General JEB Stuart at the American Civil War Museum in Richmond, Virginia. Stuart commanded Robert E. Lee's cavalry through much of the war.

The Florida Monument on the Chickamauga Battlefield. It was erected in 1912 and contains the inscription, "This monument has been erected in memory of the soldiers of the State of Florida who took part in the battle fought here September 19-20, 1863 whether they fell in battle or lived to render further services to their state and country."
