Signed an offer today!!!

I figured I’d share because I think some optimism can go a long way these days; I always loved seeing others in this sub get jobs! My first-choice job offered me a position today that matches my previous salary!!! It’s funny because I applied to this role on a whim knowing damn well I wasn’t fully qualified. To my surprise, talent acquisition reached out to me within a few days for a phone screen. I had just had an onsite interview for another company that I thought I really wanted….until I screened for this job. After talking to the recruiter for about 30 min, I went from “eh, whatever. let’s just go through the process” to “wow, I REALLY want this job.” I had a 1.5 hour virtual interview a week later and something just came over me. I think I was getting to a “screw it” point of my job search. I was extremely honest and candid in my interview knowing it was a major risk and would likely prevent me for getting the job. Well, they loved it. They requested to schedule a final round of interviews with me, then a day went by without hearing about when this would be. I knew they had about 10 more interviews this week, so even a day of silence had me thinking they found someone better and put me on the back burner. All of a sudden, voila! Offer. They essentially decided as a team to not risk losing me by making it a longer process than it needed to be. It is also my first ever fully remote job! Yay!

First attempt at shading

It’s nothing compared to what you amazing artists post here but I attempted shading for the first time! I think I kind of get it now. The lighter green by the fire was super dry but I realized it too late, so that’s why it looks like that. Anyway, I’m pleased with this one!

So, I’ve been thinking: any time I see these places say, “due to rising costs, we’ve added an X% fee to all bills” I’ve always thought “why don’t you just raise your prices then??” But it dawned on me…they likely HAVE raised their prices AND are charging the fee, i.e., double-dipping. So by raising their prices, the “rising costs” are covered and now they’re just profiting even more by these fees. This might seem like common sense but for some reason, it just hit me. UGH!

I’ve been liking this show (just finished the final 5 voting episode), but all I can focus on is how all the women are copy-paste insta baddies. Don’t get me wrong, they are beautiful!!! However, I’m just really bummed/sad that this has become so normalized. They all have the same body type and faces. There’s also a difference between being super fit and being straight up unhealthy. Some of them clearly just work out and eat well, but a lot of them look like they could collapse at any point :( when did this become the norm?? It’s gone from a handful to everyone over time. Sad.
