Anyone else hoping Wendigoon will release a video diving into the 9/11 files released by New York yesterday? He did for the JFK files, if our lord does another deepdive on this my life is his.
So update, after being okay for 24 hours i said goodbye to them as i went to work today, they were normal. And i got a text just 4 hours into my shift that they are covered in the fuzz AGAIN! How is it possible for it to happen to fast like snap of a finger??? Is this even a fungus at all??? I cant find any photos online of a fungus looking this this covering them from head to toe within 4 hours. Im beginning to feel hopeless. The last thing i can try is raising the temprature as high as the frogs can handle in hopes it kills this stupid thing, i have an adjustable heater coming today...wish my luck and im happy to receieve any advice please....

Okay, I wanted to come for help sooner but I was so scared I didnt want to wait to get a response here so I just acted based on research and I wanted to share my results so far for any future ADF owners and for documentation! We arent out of the weeds yet but they looks much better.
Two days ago I did a 50% water change (I do it every month or so with 25% change weekly) and everything was fine. Where I made my mistake I think, was moving the decorations (wood and rocks with a couple plants) from my main tank to the new tank I was cycling. (I read conflicting advice on if I should move everything over in the beginning or over time so i opted to slowly move everything over the month or so I was cycling the new tank) I guess this was not the correct thing to do and might have moved too much good bacteria out of the main tank.
The night of the water change all was well. The next morning, all was well. I went to work, I came home and OH MY GOD my two ADFs were COVERED in a layer of fungus! The sides of the main tank too, and the new tank had a foggy appearance. All within 8 hours somehow. I was shocked (I did cry a bit I was so scared to loose them) this was exactly why I started cycling a new 10 gallon because I feared the main tank (5 gal) was too small and could turn too quick in an event such as this. I ran to the pet store, and got some PimaFix, aquarium salt, and finally some seachem (it was out of stock for months but i finally snagged a bottle - previously using a different conditioner) I KNOW people say PimaFix is bad for ADFs due to the bay oil. But I had seen previous discussion saying it was okay in extremely low doses, it was all I could get my hands on I called every store nearby and no one had anything else. (I would like to inform everyone that bay oil and tea tree oil are not the same but should be used cautiously obviously!)
I immediately put the ADFs in a treatment dish, and put just a drop of PimaFix, 3 grains of salt, and conditioned water. I let them sit for 10 minutes before putting them in regualr conditioned water while I began cleaning. I scrapped the fungus off the tank (I should add I have a micoscope and confirmed it was fungus and not algae - seems obvious but I wanted to be sure) and drained as much as I could from the tank, leaving a bit under the substrate praying there was still some good bacteria there. I found fungus in the filter pipes and on the heating unit so i used a mix of conditioned water and the Pima fix to clean everything and then rinse. I re assembled it all, warmed the water and placed my babies back inside. (i added 1 drop of Pima to the main tank 5 gal and a bit of salt too)
I believe since I acted right away, and they frogs were due to molt anyway this helped my case alot. I was worried sick but knew there was nothing more I could do. Thankfully the next day one of them either molted or somehow got completely better because they looked brand new, however one looked worse but still active and normal. I treated them again in the morning like before for a 10 minute dip, and placed them back in (i plan to continue this for 1 week). And after checking throught the day, the other one must have molted as well because now they are both visibly fungus free and happy as clams.
The future is to be determined, like I said I will continue treatment as normal, but I wanted to share my process and results for anyone out there who might experience this.
TLDR: Fog moldy - put fog in dish with PimaFix, Salt, and conditioned water. Fogs okay after 24 hour. Will continue to monitor. Scared but hopeful.
Side note: anyone else have any idea why this happened? I checked the contents of the new cycling tank and found (what i assume) is the same fungus under the microscope, as well as protozoa D: (i did a different tratment for that one due to the protozoa presence). Thank you for reading all this!
Just found this very small creator on youtube who makes alot of nice content, seems hes been at it for a while. He makes mostly anime content with commentary videos mixed in. I chatted with him online for a bit and hes super chill! Just wanted to share and try and get his hard work out there :)
Hey friends, these are my first ADF's I have had them for ~2 months. I feed them freeze dried brine shrimp and beef heart on occassion with the occasional fruit fly rinsed in the sink lol. Both their activity is very high as normal! They only recently reached maturity, i believe one is male and the bloated one is female. The water levels are great, no ammonia, nitrates or nitrites at all. I do water changes every week usually 25%-30% and a larger one every few weeks. (i was about to do a small one before i saw this).
The frogs name is Doctor Franken Frogger and she is active as ever, but i noticed today she has bloating on one side (her left) but no problems sinking or floating. Just for piece of mind I figured I would ask here in case but I think ive been over feeding them - i usually feed them once a day in the evening. Any advice or input would be appreciated! Im cycling a much larger tank for them so i hope they will be healthy enough for the change in a few weeks 😵💫 i love them so much!
(I dunno if its worth mentioning but one of the ate their small freshwater shrimp tank mate recently at least i assume cause the shrimo went missing a few days ago...) AND last time apologies for bad camera footage, the tank is in a cramped spot while i cycle the larger one!
TLDR; Bloating on one side, normal activity, limbs not swollen, just looking for piece of mind. Of course ill stop feeding them and try the pea method and update you guys unless i recieve other advice.
I didnt take pictures because i was in shock. Usually my ADF will shed piece by piece and ill see them eat the pieces over time (gross)
I was sitting today just watching them as i do. And i saw my male (his name is Dan) molt a bit on his lip, scratching it. I laughed and watching him swim a bit. Then without warning, he used his hind legs to tear off the skin from his face in ONE PIECE like a discusting jacket. He then proceeded to eat it in one huge gulp nearly choking on it 😭 it made me sick to watch but i couldnt look away. He tried not to choke for maybe a full 45 seconds before swallowing it whole and burping. It was so much he litterally looks rotund and fat now. And of course right after he began begging for food and trying to eat the bubbles at the top of the tank (greed.)
Anyone elses ADF a sick little freak?
