Help 😭😭 Windows security update/MSI BIOS error and slow processing

hello everyone!

I had a problem today that has taken so much time and energy and i still dont think ive fully solved it.

Posting here for extra help/advice and hoping to also save others time if theyre also struggling.

I have a MSI katana 15 B12V its 3 years old. Never had any issue with it.

I open it today and received a security boot error - i click on it and it opens MSI BIOS

I have a good understanding on basic computer processes/updates/problem solving.

I look it up obviously to figure out what's happening. Apparently as of june 2026 windows has updated their security features after 15 years of using the same software. Which now my 3 year old computer is recognizing as a threat - therefore booting up in security mode.

I try to follow basic step by step instructions to bypass the security boot. I go into the security section of the BIOS changing it to custom and then restoring keys. It either didnt work or i did it wrong. Then all the options in the security section greyed out.

I research more online and find a file to download on a USB from the MSI website - this supposedly fixes the error and lets you bypass into windows at least.

I call MSI they pretty much blow me off and blame it on windows and refer me to the above link.

I try to follow it and can't figure it out. i call microsoft - they are more helpful but they blame it on MSI and suggest i reinstall windows. i said no thanks ill try the webpage from MSI again - the micosoft guy helps me with the usb download. very kind of him.

im able to bypass the security boot and get into my computer but its running super slow and laggy. my games are unplayable. i restart the computer several times, update msi software from msi center, restart my wifi router (i have new fiber optic wifi), verify my game files, and look for new updated software from the msi website.

nothing is working

i call msi back and says this sucks. he suggests a hardware reset by turning the computer off and on in a specific way. it brings up the secure boot again.

i ask for clarification on the previous usb fix i downloaded. he confirms it was just a bypass and not a permanent fix. i ask if he can walk me through updating my BIOS software - (i found it on the msi website). the guy is helpful I guess but i felt like i was basically figuring out how to help myself while he told me how straightforward and easy this is.

i told him it wasnt and im not a computer technician and he needed to walk me through it etc.

finally after 40mins i finally seemed to install the correct BIOS software.

i go to start my computer and its running better but still laggy and my games are unplayable. i read that crashes like this and software updates like this can be problematic and cause the computer to process slowly.

what else can i do???

i am trying to reinstall game drivers and update anything else i can. please can someone help me to get my computer running like normal again? 😭😭😫

its taken me like 6½ hrs of time and effort to get to a point where its still not fixed

thank you for any advice!!!
