Kaizen is killing my work and I don’t know what to do?

I keep hearing people say how great kaizen is but it’s wrecking my work so bad. I am so burnt out and so is everybody else. They have piled a ton of work on me and made everything more complicated. They’ve given me more jobs that used to be done by other people, and want stuff done in a certain time and a certain amount. Yet they’ve added parts to make it more complicated and more drawn out, yet act like it’s better somehow. I’m an engineer. They act like they can take videos and anybody can do my job. It took me 12 years to fully learn this job, not a few videos! They’re crazy and mistakes are going to seriously happen! Nobody will listen. If I tell my boss they just say I’m negative about it all. Or they literally go quiet and blank me and then move onto another subject. I just nod my head and agree to it all now.

A team leader went and got himself sacked. They’ve put me in charge and are going to promote me to team leader and wow. What an absolute mess it all is. I’ve been temporary team leader for a month now. Everybody on this level and above is either ass licking, don’t know what they’re doing to be able to say anything, don’t dare say anything out of fear, or are buying into it all. They’re throwing even more work at me. I’m now juggling 5 jobs at once and actually not getting very far. It’s so disorganised and everybody is making mistakes. Today kaizen themselves have just emailed me assigning me 6 more jobs, to fix 6 things to do with the 5s’s. Why on earth are they allowed to tell me what I should fix and what I shouldn’t. Im the engineer and I’m busy as it is, yet more work piled on top of me.

2 of my staff have just told me they’ve had job offers and they’re handing their notices in on Monday. Another is retiring and another has been put onto the other shift. Another 2 have already retired and one is recovering from an operation but is retiring in December. I am left with me and 3 other people. We’re supposed to have 11 people per shift. Everybody is leaving, we’ve all had enough. We’re getting in inexperienced people and the mistakes are piling up. Yet nobody is realising or listening it’s like they’re all blind or deaf. I really care about the place, I’m on a brilliant wage. Yet Kaizen is killing it and I have no idea what to do. Nobody will listen and if I do say something big I will get a disciplinary and won’t get the promotion to team leader.

At the end of the day the way we did things before wasn’t broken. We just got a new managing director who wants more profit so the owners are listening to him and allowed him to get Kaizen in and spend millions in doing so. This managing director has no experience at all in our line of work. I should leave shouldn’t I? Even for less money at this point.

The NHS is an absolute joke!

I just have to rant about this. I have a rare genetic condition where my lungs can collapse. Got seen fast in 2015 and had 2 collapsed lungs which came back up within 2 weeks and 2 operations in the space 3 months. The operation has failed overtime last year in September while I was on holiday in Rhodes. I had to get an air ambulance back, but the hospital in Rhodes looked after me very fast, CT scan straight away.

Got back in England and nobody even knew. I had told my doctors and my old specialist. I rang my specialist and he said I had to go through my doctor. I had to go to the doctors and explain everything. He sent me to the wrong specialist, had to ring up and actually tell him. Got an appointment booked in for 4 months time! Ended up going to A&E to get checked out, my lung was back up (Well) they wouldn’t give me a CT scan.

Finally got to the specialist after another 2 A&E visits with pain. They sent me for a CT scan, saw them again in February. Turns out my lung is still collapsed! It’s 1/3 collapsed. The specialist said he was going on holiday until April and it’s fine to leave until he comes back. Again I went to A&E with pain. Told me to just go home and wait until April.

Went again in April, sent me for another CT scan but this time a very urgent one apparently. Took them 3 and a half weeks when it was supposed to be 2. So my specialist had to cancel my urgent appointment with himself as apparently it takes a CT scan result a week to get to them!? WHAT!?

So then my appointment is cancelled and I wait, thinking another will me made with haste. I don’t hear anything so I have to ring up, explain everything to the appointments team. 10th of June! The 10th of June!? I say it’s supposed to be urgent. They say they will e-mail the specialist and I’ve heard nothing back. She also told me they weren’t even making me an appointment unless I rang up, so good job I did!

Now I’m waiting again, then I will also have to wait for an operation date. 8 months I’ve had a collapsed lung for. They say it might not come back up, but don’t seem to be in a rush to get it back up. The country is a joke and the NHS is absolutely on its knees. No communication, no care, no nothing.
