TroyBuilt suddenly becomes a mowing GO CART
I did a basic check of this sub before posting and didn't see anything remotely close to what I've experienced.
I just got off the phone with Troybuilt CS and the rep had never heard of this.
I have a TroyBuilt Pony, 7-Speed riding lawnmower. It's done fairly good in the last eight years with little problem.
However, Sat I was mowing the yard and it just took off like a go cart. The brakes would not work and I was able to throttle it down to stop it. I noticed the gear lever was now in the N position.
I was able to reproduce this on a level part of the driveway by having it in drive moving and putting it into N. The engine didn't seem to change sounds as far as speeding up. It would not let me put it back into D. Again, throttling it down stopped it.
This season, I did notice there was a bit of a belt noise that was strange.
I've driven lawnmowers since I've been around 15 and I've never experienced or heard of anything like this. Since my property has retaining walls and ravines, this could be extremely dangerous if someone panicked.
