3-week China itinerary check: Guangzhou, Zhangjiajie, Chongqing, Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzen
I'm planning a ~3 week trip to China with a group of guys in late August/early September and would love feedback on whether this itinerary is realistic or if I'm spending too much/little time anywhere. We are young and want to prioritize fun/experiences over anything else.
Current plan:
- Aug 21: Hong Kong
- Aug 22: Hong Kong → Guangzhou (train)
- Aug 23-24: Guangzhou
- Aug 25: Guangzhou → Zhangjiajie (flight)
- Aug 26-27: Zhangjiajie
- Aug 28: Zhangjiajie → Chongqing (train)
- Aug 29-31: Chongqing
- Sep 1: Chongqing → Beijing (flight)
- Sep 2: Beijing
- Sep 3: Beijing → Shanghai (high-speed rail)
- Sep 4-6: Shanghai
- Sep 7: Shanghai → Shenzhen (flight)
- Sep 8: Shenzhen → Hong Kong
- Sep 9: Hong Kong (depart)
questions:
- Is 2 full days enough for Zhangjiajie, or would you add another day?
- Am I spending too much time in Chongqing compared to Beijing?
- Any concerns about transportation? Is flying better than train?
- If you had one extra day to reallocate, where would you put it?
- Is this too many cities?
