Kinda outside our typical lane, but how are you all planning on handling social media with your kids?

I just read an article on the link between social media and body dysmorphia and it’s actually terrifying.

I thought I had more time with my oldest (6yo girl) but the things she comes home kindergarten asking about feel years ahead of what I would have expected. Things like who she wants to marry (fine), if she looks fat (wtf + she’s a string bean)c and when she can get an Instagram! (???? She doesn’t even have a phone and won’t anytime soon …)

Not to mention they use iPads (sparingly) in school and their 26 year old teacher lets them watch YouTube during indoor recess. They fight over who gets to press “slip ad” …

So yeah. How are you all handling / planning to handle this virtual hell and seemingly unavoidable ongoing fight about any restrictions?

Couldn’t believe my luck this weekend as I found a bunch of records (including Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms and Paul Simon - Graceland) OG pressings for less than $10 apiece.

It was at my local shop which usually does well on quality control. The sleeves were in ok shape but the vinyl looked great.

I guess it wasn’t obvious enough when I looked at them in the shop, but when I got home and played them, the stale cigar/cigarette smoke smell filled the air.

Dagger. Lesson learned. I guess I need to start sniffing sleeves?

In any case, took the wax out and have the sleeves airing out in the garage. Might try the trick of putting them into a sealed plastic bin with charcoal bags to hopefully absorb odor.

If it doesn’t work, I might try and hunt down the sleeves for these, which can sometimes be found on sale.

The wax doesn’t seem to stink, which is great, but damn what a buzzkill. Can’t imagine smoking in my house especially near records.
