Should Vaughn Hillyard Replace Peter Alexander On State Of Play?

Peter so far has been a minor disappointment.
The interview with the Florida Republican candidate yesterday was a jaw dropper.
I had trouble as the pol lied his ass off and Alexander just sat there, failing to correct the numerous falsehoods that fell from the candidate’s lips.

I have no idea what with wrong. The pol went unchallenged.

Maybe Peter Alexander isn’t the end-all, be-all I’d anticipated for MS NOW.
He’s kind of low energy.

I’ve been much more impressed with Vaughn.
Vaughn Hillyard deserves his own showcase on the network.

Great Temporary Substitute Host For Ali Vitali

I get grumpy as hell at 5am and Ali isn’t hosting Way Too Early.

Earlier last week I expressed disappointment and displeasure over the choice of a sub-host Monday.
Starting Tuesday & through the rest of the week Ali’s substitute was Laura Barron-Lopez - I think I have the name correct.

She was TERRIFIC. Like to see her get her own show.
She was well informed and conducted interviews like a real old-school pro. And she’s young.

I might be a geezer but I’m loving seeing all these new, younger news reporters coming into their own.
They’re the real future of cable news in general and MS NOW in particular.

I Am NOT Up Way Too Early…

…to see Symone.

I get outta bed every morning at 4:30 because I like waking up before the household and enjoy watching Way Too Early With Ali Vitali while enjoying my 1st cup of coffee of the day.

I realize Ali Vitali is one of the hardest working people at MSNow & deserves time off but it was a major buzz kill to turn on the show and see a slightly more sedate Symone instead of Ali.

Let the downvotes begin!

Ali Vitali In For Steph - Next: John Harwood

Is this Harwood’s 1st appearance after leaving MSNBC/NBC?

Longtime favorite- longtime missed.

Hope he gets his own MSNow show!

JONATHAN LEMIRE IN FOR K. TUR THIS WEEK?

The Moment With Katy Tur has a substitute host.

Terrific show for a change yesterday and today with Lemire sitting in for an absent Katy Tur.
Ali Vitali’s reporting on the Lindsey Graham fest.

Great panel now includes Vaughan Hillyard and David Rhode.

Lemire - Vitali - Heilemann

This morning’s hosts on Morning Joe: Jonathan Lemire and Ali Vitali the great John Heilemann.
Not the usual tired faces and opinions of Joe & Mika with Barnicle and Deutsch and company.

Lemire, Ali Vitali, John Heilemann Jacqueline Alemany - (though Jackie is currently on vacation) these folks are knowledgeable, witty, attractive and enjoyable to watch.
They’re young-ish.

Joey Scars & the wheelbarrow full of geriatrics who sit perched around the “desk” opining each morning over-emphasizing the obvious, editorializing, and overpraising one another for their “insights”.
I’d love to see the show replaced and Joe & Mika head over to FoxNews.

David Drucker Coverage & Analysis

Are David Drucker’s segments available elsewhere?
YouTube, maybe?

I don’t want the whole show -just Drucker’s report.

He seemed skeptical of the potential for long term success & the political durability of Left leaning Dems.
Wish I could see the entire segment instead of the snippet I happened to catch.

Thanks

Jacqueline Alemany - WH Correspondent or A Weekend Anchor?

I was a bit disappointed to see Jackie Alemany relegated to a co-anchor position on The Weekend.
She is an outstanding reporter who has covered major events as a correspondent.
Don’t get me wrong- I’m delighted to see her anytime on any program but folks shouldn’t forget that she’s earned her wings covering breaking news stories.

  1. While at CBS News covering the Trump White House, she broke stories involving EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt’s spending practices, proposed cuts to the White House drug czar’s office, and staffing shortages in the White House science office.

  2. At The Washington Post, she became known for congressional and oversight reporting. In 2022, Post editors publicly described her as having landed “scoop after scoop” on the House January 6 investigation and selected her as congressional investigations reporter largely because of that work.

  3. In The Washington Post, she became known for congressional and oversight reporting. In 2022, Post editors publicly described her as having landed “scoop after scoop” on the House January 6 investigation and selected her as congressional investigations reporter largely because of that work.

Given that history I figured she’d be breaking major news stories like her colleague Carol Leonig instead of merely being a seat warmer on a weekend morning show with two feather weights.

It was great to see her reporting on the White House shenanigans during Jonathan Lemire’s 9 am hour of Morning Joe.

Nipplegate > Epstein Files Cover-Up

Just finished reading Haberman’s & Swan’s amazing excerpt from their new book on the second Trump presidency and attempts to bury allegations of Trump’s unsavory sexual predilection for young girls’ nipples.

After reading the following I propose newscasters refer here on to “the Epstein cover-up” as Nipplegate.

Source NY Times 10 June 2026:
https://www.nytimes.com/video/us/politics/100000010947363/how-trump-administration-handled-epstein-files.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share

[“Ransome claimed that she knew a girl in Epstein’s sex-trafficking ring named Jen, who said she had sex with Trump. Ransome also claimed that Jen had told her that Trump had a predilection for nipples and that he had aggressively flicked and sucked hers. Ransome wrote that she had seen evidence when she shared a bathroom with Jen. “They looked incredibly painful as they were red and swollen and I remember wincing when I looked at them,” she wrote.

Ransome’s credibility was not uncomplicated; she had made another claim that she possessed video footage of prominent men having sex with young girls in Epstein’s entourage. She later retracted the claims, saying she feared for herself and her family if she proceeded. But after a federal judge ordered the unsealing of some of the Giuffre case files in 2023, the document that connected Trump to the claim about abused nipples was among the material that came out. It was an unconfirmed allegation and had not been made publicly, but the disclosure led to some articles that were quickly lost in the swirl of election-year news.”]

It’s Nipplegate!!
