Check Issue with Big Bank - Are they really this bad?
I've had a very strange issue with Santander bank. My mother sent a check from Chase to me (Santander) over mail, I received it and deposited the check at my branch along with another one I had. I assumed all was well as my mom had confirmed it went through.
I then checked a year later and noticed something was off. I saw that only the other check went through into my account and NOT the one my mother sent to me. She then confirmed that on her end, the money from the check left her account and she got a picture of the check (with a bunch of confirmation numbers on it including the date, branch ID, person ID (who cashed the check), check reference number, and teller reference number).
Since then I've gone in person to my branch and called Santander support where every I've submitted claims, been told it should be fixed and its an error on Santander's end, told that the claim is denied and they can't do anything after 3 months, and then been recommended back and forth between the branch and the customer service line.
At this point, I don't know what to do. This was a lot of money and I'm feeling like an idiot for not checking that it went through on my online account. Is there ANYTHING else I can do?
Update:
I'll add that from Chase's side, the check has cleared with a picture of the check I submitted (with the digital text overlay with Santander's info that only Santander could add. These specifics are in the main post). From Santander's side, they say they don't see anything despite the fact that a separate check I deposited that day was submitted and went through. The money has seemingly vanished.
