Where do I even start?

Im sure you all know how confusing it is to get into comics if you know nothing about them. Im open to suggestions for where to start with comics at all. I have a list of some characters who I think are the most interesting to me based on the movies and TV shows ive seen. But if anyone has any other recommendations for characters with amazing comics, im open minded and id love to try new stuff out!

Which are some of the best starter comics? Which are the most essential/iconic comics? Are there any interconnected universes of comics that exist and if so which should I get into? Id love some recommendations.

Im interested in characters like

- Daredevil

- Spider-Man

- Iron Man

- Batman

- Deadpool

- Superman

- Ant Man/ The Wasp

- The Avengers

- The X-Men

- Thor

- Wanda and Vision

- Moon Knight

- The MCU Defenders (though ive heard that the comic defenders lineup is very different from the MCU lineup)

EDIT: - Fantastic Four

- Open to any other suggestions

Also I know I asked a lot of questions and listed , so if you can only answer a few thats fine. Im open to any and all new information! Thanks so much

(as a side note I posted this on another subreddit, and am copy-pasting it here to hopefully get more responses)

EDIT: I dont know if this makes sense, but is there a difference between the best, most essential comics for a character, and the comics that are the best to start out with so that you have enough context about the characters to get into the better stories?

I hate "Jesus was/wasnt [insert skin color]" debates

(side note, I did already post something similar on a different subreddit but I thought it was relevant here too)

Jesus came from ancient Judea - specifically Nazareth (modern day Palestine) which included people of many different skin colors. That area is a crossroads between Europe, Africa, and Asia. There were stereotypically White, Black, Arab, and Jewish looking people in that region. While Jesus was ethnically Jewish, he could've had a wide range of skin tones and couple of different hair colors. Basically we kinda have no idea what Jesus looked like apart from the fact that probably looked vaguely Jewish or middle eastern - which are very diverse looking populations.

But I think it's beautiful that different cultures have different interpretations of what He looked like. Is Black Jesus or Korean Jesus or Blonde Jesus historically accurate? Likely not. But I dont think it's necessarily wrong to localize Jesus to your culture. And in fact I think that there are so many localizations shows how global Christ's message of Love really is.

In fact, I think it's a feature, not a bug that we dont necessarily know exactly what Christ looked like so that we can all relate to Him regardless of race. I think Jesus would hate how politicized his skin color has become with people on different sides yelling:

"Jesus was MY skin color!"

"No, Jesus was MY skin color"

So was Jesus Blonde - most likely not. But I think the diversity in how He's portrayed is a beautiful reminder of how He loves the whole world, not just one specific people group.
