EES border advice - don't get left behind for your flight.

Just a heads up to people to be prepared for the EES delays.

For outward travel:

Leave generous connection time between your arrival flight into Schengen and any connecting flights.

Carry water and a charged up phone with content and be prepared for multi hour delays.

For departing travel:

Arrive at the airport as early as possible.

Try not to have hold luggage (carry on only)

Go straight to passport control when through security if you can (some airports may not open passport until 2 hours before departure or gate annoucements may affect this)

Carry water and a charged up phone with content and be prepared for multi hour delays.

Problems aren't happening at all airports nor all the time but are happening regularly. Peak travel season from the UK is also about to start - holidays start in Scotland in a week or so and England a couple of weeks later - so a lot more traffic will be passing through many airports in the Mediterranean. Note: If passport control delays you such that miss a boarding a flight your insurance will probably not cover you. Unless you explicitly add it and pay an extra fee at purchase.

Avoiding EES is only possible by travelling to non Schengen members such as UK, Ireland, Cyprus, Albania, Bosnia, Moldova, Serbia, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Turkey.

Baliwick of Guernsey

Not sure if technically Guernsey should appear here but I've been on a 6 day tour of the islands and I wanted to share a few photos.

Whether deliberately or by negligence two mature trees were set on fire in Linn Park - at least one was still burning. It was reported to Scottish Fire but I don't think even if they come it will survive. It really makes me sad that people do this.
