I saw to it myself

I went back to the Barras this morning to correct an unrelated but arguably more important error, this time of my own doing, and while I was down there I stopped at Bills Tool Store and bought a claw hammer. The tree has been freed from immediate peril, and now it’s in your capable hands for any further care. The post and strap lay at the base of it, if anyone sees fit to reinstall it with appropriate tension. I like your city a lot, and it seems some of you may, too. Thanks for having me.

Rat situation Govanhilll

There have always been rats out the back of houses but now I am seeing it about 10pm middle of the street and rats running around everywhere. It's mental and yes I've contacted the council but they don't seem to give a fuck.

The streets being closed for Batman filming have been announced, but like Spiderman last year, no maps, just street names. So I made some maps to get a better picture. Some of them are for traffic, for pedestrians, or for bus lane closures.

The list of street names released in The Herald just came across as white noise, couldn't get a sense of the areas being closed of (mostly because I don't know the names of the lanes).

Parking problem - parkhead

Just to preface - i totally understand living next to a football stadium i need to expect a influx of cars during game nights. I get it - i’ve dealt with it for 8 years. However, things are just getting worse.

Cars are literally abandoned anywhere blocking our residential streets. It is an obstruction if god forbid one of us needed an emergency service vehicle. Pavements and dropped kerbs are obstructed for wheelchair users. It also causes a hazard to pedestrians who are either crossing a road or having to walk on the road around vehicles. Not to mention the damage left behind on grass maintained by factors.

I have raised it with my local MP and GCC directly but still to this day i have never ever seen any parking control implemented. Does ANYONE have any suggestions on how to tackle this? I know it will never be eliminated completely but i dont see the point in GCC putting out no parking cones with 0 enforcement.

Has anyone ever had any luck getting through to First Bus

I am a commuter and I take the bus almost every day and I am always surprised by how shite the service is.

On a day to day basis, the bus is over 30 minutes late and is only an ever a single decker when there are hoards of school kids getting to school in the morning. This means that half of the pupils are left at there stops when we pass or alternatively, the driver stuffs everyone on and people are basically sat on top of each other.

Yesterday, my bus driver shouted at a group of small school kids to “fuckin get oan!!!” when they were reluctant to push into the heaving bus, after this I thought I’m going to try and complain again because the complaint form has never worked for me.

I sat with it for about 30 minutes trying all of the formats to get it through but it always comes back saying the antibot verification failed?

Has anyone ever managed to get some feedback to them or better yet, have any sort of positive change as a result?

Sorry to sound like a miserable cunt but I’m so tired of these private transport companies not giving a fuck.

New luxury student flats featuring spa and cinema opens in Glasgow city centre

> with developers saying it will “help address the chronic shortage of purpose-built student accommodation in the popular city.”

Doesn't feel like a "chronic shortage", especially with more developments like the old Herald offices being approved.

Whilst any accomodation will help take pressure of the rest, I just can't shake the feeling that there is a student property bubble developing in Glasgow and it's going to implode over the next decade.

I wonder how hard these place are to convert into actual homes?

Scammer doing kitchens, plumbing etc

I hired someone through Gumtree to fit my Howdens worktops, said he could mitre, good pics on his post.

He came with a younger guy at 10am.

They absolutely trashed my kitchen.

Not one piece of worktop was cut properly and it all needs ripped out.

Chipped edges, had to tell him to change a piece.

Changed it and it was mildly better.

Cut a big chunk out my wall instead of cutting worktop to size.

Was leaving an overhang of 5 inches at my cupboard.

Couldn't mitre so that was an absolute lie.

Tried to pull my the wood off the side of my cupboard for some reason and trashed my wall that was just plastered.

Hes still got 2 ads up on Gumtree even though I reported him.

Goes by nickname Ayo, his names Ayoro or something similar.

Beware if youre booking anyone to do home improvements

Tree needs saving on High St.

This is right in between the High Street rail station, and the Moxy hotel, just off the corner of the hotel.
I’m here on vacation, but I’m gardener/landscaper and I notice these sort of things. Anyways, this tree will go to waste if that band isn’t removed soon

SPT: Subway signaling update

Successful testing of the new signalling and comms system continued in the Subway on Sunday as staff worked through the various new operational aspects of the system in this our second Sunday closure.

SPT chief executive Valerie Davidson said:

“After a lot of hard work and effort, it was really exciting to see the Subway system operating under the new signalling and comms systems – this transfer to new signalling is a massive step. The new passenger information screens on trains, together with the automated passenger announcements will make an enormous difference to passengers, not only to those who use our services everyday but especially for those who maybe only use the Subway occasionally or require a bit more assistance when travelling with us. As we move towards driverless trains, good, clear, helpful information will make all the difference to all those people using the Subway.

“I am delighted to see the progress being made as we transfer over to the new Operational Control Centre.”
