Image 1 — The streets being closed for Batman filming have been announced, but like Spiderman last year, no maps, just street names. So I made some maps to get a better picture. Some of them are for traffic, for pedestrians, or for bus lane closures.

The list of street names released in The Herald just came across as white noise, couldn't get a sense of the areas being closed of (mostly because I don't know the names of the lanes).

New WIP Scottish Punk/Ska themed jaikit

Collected a bunch of patches from local gigs over the past couple of years and decided to make a local (ie Scottish) band jacket. Got more to add, I just need to muster the patience to sew around the pockets.

Bleached some jaggy designs into it with a paint brush and dyed it yellow.

Bought some yellow tartan fabric from a local fabric shop and sewed it on the shoulder blades.

Added some spikes and studs. Got some yellow pyramid studs currently stuck in the mail, waiting on them to stick around the Rezillos patch, which I had custom made (I had already settled on a yellow theme before I added Scotland into the mix).

Made some badges with my badge-maker. Still undecided on the Exploited badge, but I'm not wearing a patch for them, a badge is all they're getting.

Been trying to decide what to put on the shoulder blade tartan, when some smart-arse in the pub last week saw the tartan and said I looked like an annual for The Broons or Oor Wullie, and I thought to myself, you know what, that's given me an idea. So I've got an Oor Wullie patch designed* for the shoulder blades, just need to fire up my newly-learned screen-printing skills to make it (Oor Wullie is a newspaper comic strip going back to the 1940's that was collected every year into an annual, which every wean in Scotland has been given for Christmas since. Think Dennis the Menace but Scottish).

And I've just noticed the Spunk badge that I left on, clearly not a Scottish band but I got it at their gig during the week. Bought a t-shirt as well, but lost that on the bus home :( Gutted.

*based on a design I found online, but I believe that design was based on OG Oor Wullie artwork

Interesting article in the Metro today explaining why there's no nostalgia for the NES in the UK, spoils it at the end by listing some of the most famous NES games ever made instead of the micro-computer games we actually played back then.

Spoiler; no NoE consolidating distribution, price of Nintendo carts compared to budget label cassettes, and piracy on micro-computers required a copy of a game, a blank cassette, and your mum and dad's hi-fi in the living room.

It was also easier to convince parents to get a computer that would "help with your homework" than a console that wouldn't.

And I should have put "no nostalgia" in quotes in the title, there's obviously some, but not a lot.

Been teaching myself screen-printing, decided to try photo emulsion. Tricky AF to plan out (everything has to be done in the dark), but they came out pretty decent.

Thanks to this sub, I maxed out a round on flags in my pub quiz last night.

The quizmaster was going to do a video game round, but saw that I was in (he knows I'm a game dev) and changed it up to a round on flags to make it harder. But as the title suggests, I won the round anyway.

How many you can get without looking them up?

Question 1.

What makes the flags of Malta and Belize unique?

Question 2.

Which European country has a map of their country on it's flag?

Question 3.

What is the most popular colour on national flags?

Question 4.

Which country has the only flag that isn't bordered by 4 sides?

Question 5.

Which country's flag depicts an eagle grabbing a snake, sitting on top of a cactus, in the middle of a lake? (a member of bar staff waved to get my attention and pointed behind me, drawing my attention to the World Cup time table that had been painted on the wall with all the participating country's flags. So I had a bit of help with that one lol).

Question 6.

Which country's flag depicts a shipwreck?

[edit: just found this out about the Malta flag, >!it's the ONLY national flag in the world that has English language text on it.!<But that wasn't the answer, cos it shares the answer with Belize.]
