This week's new patches. The data centres one can be made with US spelling of course :) The mini battle jackets are staple in my store but I've added a whole range of new colours including the rainbow one.

This week's new patches. The data centres one can be made with US spelling of course :) The mini battle jackets are staple in my store but I've added a whole range of new colours including the rainbow one.

Still going at it trying the breathe new life into my stores! It's been a long but much needed 3 weeks. I only tend to go on a bit of 'new patch streak' when the summer is approaching, by June it tends to get a bit busy with pride month, but until then, I'm making the most of the tumbleweeds and crickets in the new orders section.

The "Staring at me makes me even more queer" was inspired by an experience me and my non-binary sibling shared on the London Underground recently. We were waiting in the tube for the next one and a man was giving my sibling dirty looks as he got on the train. We obviously gleefully smiled and waved at him back which just made his face like thunder as the doors were shutting. 🤣

No more data centres, well the inspiration is obvious but what you may not know is that I live in the world's 2nd most populated place for data centres. All the small workshops are gone and I have no hope of expanding into printing or other crafting like I've always wanted to do as I currently work from my small bedroom.

We also have some pride-themed guitars. I like combining pride flags with other topics and interests as I find it a bit more interesting than just straight-up flags.

Anyone have any particular favourites? I'm always looking for new patch ideas as it's the only way to keep up with the dropshippers and Ali-Express sellers sometimes so all ideas welcomed. It takes a while for them to get indexed properly and start selling so I don't get much indication of what's working until this happens, so your thoughts are definitely wanted.

Is a battle vest/jacket ever REALLY finished?! 😳

I think mine is finished - or is it??? Went a little crazy with the spikes on the back.. now it feels like a wearable weighted blanket lol. Might take some of em off.. might add some pins… who knows! ✌️

How to clean out pocket?

Okay so a while ago i accidentally left some toffee chocolate in the pocket of my battle vest, and i tried cleaning it out and it got very sticky. Then it got dusty. Then i put some babypowder there to make it better, but now i really wanna clean it throughly. Any tips?

Oversized back patch

So I received a patch I've been trying to get for months. I measured prior and apparently didn't do my homework on this because it will overlap onto a seam area when I sew it on.

I feel like if I trim the bottom corners in, I'll lose out on some of the artwork, but also am concerned about sewing into my vests seam and having a terrible time.

Should I trim it, sew into the seams, or just use white thread and see if it blends in on the vertical sides?

Censored with my hand because original post was booted.

Start another jacket or add to this one?

I've got about 20 patches that I want to put on a battle jacket but I'm torn between starting on a new one vs just adding to this one. I was tempted to say that the jacket in the pics is finished but maybe not? Idk, what do y'all think?

Planning my first jacket

I’m making my first battle jacket! Thrifted a cheap black Levi’s trucker javket off eBay. I can’t wait, but I have yet to receive the jacket or any patches.

I wanna focus filling on getting the bands that I’m going to see soon or that I’ve already seen/- or members of that band.

Someone here had made this amazing planning tool, but I am not sure how I should lay out my patches?

I also wanna hand stitch some own patches for more niche bands. Any tips for a beginner?

2 finished, 1 WIP.

My first two finished jackets and the third is my current WIP. Already gathering patches for a fourth, but I have no idea what type/colour of jacket to use yet.

First Incarnation of my Battle Jacket!

This is my entire patch collection so far! I finally found a denim jacket I liked and got my battle jacket started!

It's finished for now, but not complete, you know? A forever WIP until I run out of space! (Then it's on to the next one!)

The patches are mostly amassed from conventions and art shows but I've already christened it with a concert.

My first battle vest and my first hanmade patches

Decided to finally start a vest, but wanted to make all the patches myself using fabric acrylic and hand-cut stencils. Right now I've got HEALTH, Youth Code, and some custom stuff done.

I'm already working on a second batch. I decided not to limit the vest strictly to bands, so I'm adding things that are just a big part of my life - gaming stuff, a Straight Edge cross, and a Monster Energy logo. I want it to represent me, not just a specific genre rulebook.

Just wanted to share the progress. If anyone has practical experience with preserving acrylic on denim so it survives the pit and doesn't peel off immediately, let me know.

Been working on this for a minute

Through much actual blood, sweat, and tears ive. Finally finished putting all the patches I currently own on my jacket it took a long time but now. I need more and. I need some band patches and a big back patch I'm very proud of myself for sticking through much of. The trial and error it took to get through this 😁😅

This weekends round of new patches for the store! The Goose one was a request from a bird-obsessed friend of mine.

This weekend I've added a few more to the website and to Etsy. :) I really like the Trump one, I think not enough anti-Trump patches have that alternative feel to them so I made one that does with the font. The goose one was a fun one I did for a friend who is really into his geese and quails and watching them up the park, but I thought I'd list it anyway after all the effort I went through for it 🙂.

The down with AI one I used a cyberpunk-y font for as I thought it worked really well. If you like that one, I also have an older one I did with "Stop AI Art" on it and a 6-fingered hand. 😁

Anyone have any particular favourites? I'm always looking for new patch ideas as it's the only way to keep up with the dropshippers and Ali-Express sellers sometimes so all ideas welcomed. WIP battle… purse

Tw for suicide mention

I made this purse myself and am not done yet, so if you’re wondering where the patches and shiny shit is, it’s not there yet. But beyond that, this purse is a deeper exploration of my gender and my relation to this subculture. I’m not punk anymore, but some elements of what was still stay behind. Namely the love for DIY, some of the music, trying my best to be left-leaning in a meaningful way, a love for the color black, and a love for patches. If you look at my profile you’ll see a vest covered in bands, can tabs, and messages made in anger. I’m very proud of that vest, but it’s not me anymore. I felt too self-conscious in the vest, and frankly it felt a bit masculine for my gender expression, to the point where a lot of the patches were covered by my long hair. That self-consciousness also says a lot as someone who doesn’t feel like she passes well enough as a transfemme person. I get funny looks a lot, and I thought the vest was part of it, I also thought my long hair was part of it. Really I tried not to care, but I think from those looks I realized that what didn’t bother me was the looks themselves, but that it didn’t feel like they were looking at /me/. I tried to be “punk” so hard. I listened to the music and said I liked it when really I think I just liked some of the stuff, namely post-punk or hardcore. I put the bands on my vest to represent who left an impression on me, but by copying the band logos onto a patch, it didn’t feel like I was expressing myself and rather I was just a billboard. There’s nothing wrong with that, but I think for me, by making this purse, I recognized that I want the patches I do make to be reflections of myself, or at least not just be copies of someone else’s band logo.

I’ve been in a really turbulent point in my life lately, and I said to my friends that I feel like a light switch, feeling every emotion so intensely and constantly jumping between suicidality and hope. Outside of the usual screamy loud music, I found hope in Jeff Buckley’s song “Eternal Life”. I know I said I don’t wanna be a billboard, but in that same realm I wanna make a patch dedicated to the lyric “there’s no time for hatred, only questions”. This lyric gives me hope that someone will see its words and change from hatred into curiosity. From this, I’m also gonna experiment with fonts and maybe imagery to surround this text, and I’ll place this patch on the top flap of the purse. It’s a small bag, so aside from this patch I’ll probably only add one or two other ones, but for those ones in mind I have a drawing dedicated to Hollow Knight: Silksong that I made and will turn into a stencil. It’s my own design, and I’m really proud of it. The image isn’t included but it depicts Hornet’s needle crossing Lace’s sword. Aside from that, I don’t know what other patch I’ll add, but I’m gonna work to make it my own design. Finally, I’m gonna cover the rims of the flap in folded can tabs to add a shiny look. Maybe I’ll also add some more small stuff to the strap, idk. Regardless, the point of this purse is that it feels like me in a way the vest didn’t. The point is also that by recognizing my inner punk as merely a phase, I didn’t abandon it completely and I still hold elements of it close to my heart. The point is that by exiting “punk” and finding other subcultures to identify with whether it be my queerness or merely the idea of “alternative”, I found more appreciation for what was, and I thank you all for helping me grow this way.
Also, fuck r/baddlejackets.

Tldr: I’m not punk anymore, but elements of it stayed with me and I thank you for inspiring me.

Did a little embroidery on my vest

I couldn't find a Frail Body patch anywhere so I decided to just embroider the logo myself. Really happy with how it came out!

My new WIP. I'm falasteeni so no cultural appropriation here

THE VEST IS THRIFTED I DO NOT SUPPORT Calvin Klein. Anyways thoughts? Should I leave it as is? I was thinking of adding the PRESS logo with a bullet hole and stuff to represent the journalists killed by the occupation.

Hand painted jacket commission for friend (battle jacket but also just a nerd jacket)

Idk if this counts as a battle jacket anymore but I had a lot of fun making this and jackets are meant to express what you love!
