Does APU have a strict dress code?

Hey everyone, I had a random question.

I’m planning to study at APU, and I was wondering if there’s actually a dress code for attending classes.

I’m not planning to show up in a tank top or anything 😂. I’d mostly be wearing casual clothes, long pants with a normal T-shirt.

But what if I wore shorts on a hot day? Would that be an issue, or does nobody really care?

I’ve heard some universities are super strict and make you dress like you’re attending a wedding instead of a lecture 😂. Is APU like that, or is it pretty relaxed?

APU Business Management students/graduates, how difficult and stressful is the degree?

Hi everyone,

I’m thinking about joining APU for the Bachelor in Business Management and I have a few questions for people who are currently studying it or have already graduated.

How difficult is the course overall? Is it very stressful or manageable if you stay on top of your work?

Also, I’ve heard mixed things about the degree being very reading-heavy. I honestly don’t enjoy doing a huge amount of reading, so I’d like to know what it’s actually like from students who have taken the course. Do you have to read a lot every week, or is it not that bad?

How are the assignments, exams, presentations, and group projects? Any advice or things you wish you knew before starting?

I’d really appreciate any honest opinions and experiences. Thanks!

Confused about Malaysian university trimesters/semesters as an international student

Hi everyone,

I’m looking into studying Business Administration in Malaysia as an international student, but I’m honestly confused about how the academic calendar works.

I’m used to the more traditional system where you have a Fall semester, a Spring semester, and then a summer break that’s a couple of months long.

But when I look at Malaysian universities, I keep seeing things like trimesters, multiple intakes, and three semesters per year. Some websites make it sound like students study almost all year round and only get short breaks of a few weeks between semesters.

How does it actually work in practice?

If I start a bachelor’s degree in Malaysia, can I follow a more traditional route with two main semesters per year, or are most students expected to take all three terms?

Also, when do universities usually start their academic year? If someone wants to start in the equivalent of a Fall semester, is that usually September, October, or another month?

I’d appreciate hearing from current students or graduates because I’m finding it a bit confusing.

Dual citizen living abroad - can I postpone military service until 35?

Hi everyone,

I’m a Turkish citizen and also have another citizenship. I’m under 35 and will be moving abroad soon and living outside Turkey.

I recently saw information from MSB that says dual citizens living abroad may be able to postpone their military service until the end of the year they turn 35. I’m a bit confused about how this works in practice.

My situation is:

● Turkish + another citizenship ● Under 35 ● Will be living abroad ● Not currently working

My questions are:

  1. Can a dual citizen who lives abroad apply for this postponement even if they’re not working?

  2. Is residence abroad enough, or do you need employment, student status, or something else?

  3. Do I apply through the Turkish consulate in the country where I live?

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through the process or knows how it works in practice.

Do Dual Citizens Still Qualify for Dövizle Askerlik After 3 Years Abroad Without a Work Requirement?

I’m trying to understand the current rules for dövizle askerlik and I’ve found conflicting information.

On one Turkish consulate document, it says that dual citizens (çifte vatandaş) can apply after being physically abroad for at least 3 years (1095 days) and that no work requirement is sought (“çalışma şartı aranmadan”).

At the same time, other consulate pages talk about work requirements for people living abroad with residence/work permits.

My question is:

If someone is a dual citizen (for example Turkish + another nationality), do they only need 1095 days of actual residence outside Turkey, or do they also need to prove employment/work history?

Has anyone personally gone through the process recently or applied through a Turkish consulate in the last couple of years?

Also, if the person is currently listed as a yoklama kaçağı or bakaya, does that affect eligibility for dövizle askerlik, or do they simply pay any outstanding administrative fines and continue with the application?

Business Administration at Al-Ahliyya vs Princess Sumaya – which one is more difficult?

Hi everyone,

I’m thinking about studying Business Administration and I’m trying to decide between Al-Ahliyya and Princess Sumaya.

I’ve heard from some people that Princess Sumaya can be pretty tough and stressful, while Al-Ahliyya is a bit more relaxed. For anyone who has studied at either university, is that actually true?

I’m not looking for the easiest university, but I also don’t want to spend four years under constant unbearable pressure. How was your experience with the courses, exams, and overall workload?

Thanks

Bedelli Askerlik as someone who doesn’t speak Turkish – looking for honest experiences

Hi everyone,

I’m planning to do Bedelli Askerlik (the paid one-month military service), not the regular 6-month service.

I have dual citizenship, and although I’m a Turkish citizen, I don’t speak Turkish (maybe I’ll learn a few basic commands before going, but that’s about it). I have a few questions and would really appreciate honest answers from people who have actually done it:

  1. Is the language barrier a big problem? I’ve seen some people say “don’t worry about the language,” while others make it sound impossible. What was your experience?

  2. How tough is Bedelli Askerlik compared to what people say online? Is it mostly basic training and discipline, or is it much harder?

  3. How are the other people there? Are they generally helpful, especially if someone doesn’t speak Turkish well, or should I expect a difficult environment?

  4. Has anyone here completed Bedelli Askerlik with very limited or no Turkish? If so, how did it go, and do you have any advice?

I’m honestly a bit nervous, so I’d really appreciate hearing real experiences rather than rumors. Thank you!
