I lost my beautiful 5 year old Cocker spaniel to IMHA 2 weeks ago. It happened so fast. She was fine one day to really poorly the next morning. I took her the vets who were fantastic and acted quick. Her red blood count was 7% and after a blood transfusion later that day (when the blood arrived) it increased to 27% but dropped to 19% over night. She was given blood thinning medication but still sadly suffered a fatal cardiac arrest the next morning. it was shocking and devastating as she had visibly improved after her blood transfusion. The vet also gave her Rapidexon which I believe is a steroid to fight the IMHA and stop her own body attaking her red blood cells. I’ve seen the invoice from the vets and it said the Rapidexon was 5 days expired. if anyone is a vet or has knowledge of similar medications I would like to know if you think the Rapidexon being 5 days expired would of effected its ability to work to full strength? thanks so much
