Post Surgery Incisional Pain After Slightly Complicated Removal

I had my surgery on Wednesday and my gallbladder was significantly scarred and adhered to my liver. I think this has probably complicated by recovery. When I’m sitting or laying down I feel almost 100% fine. However, getting up and moving is absolutely excruciating. They originally sent me home with tramadol but the surgeon did call me and said because of the scarring that likely wasn’t enough so she prescribed oxycodone. I don’t really notice a big difference between the narcotics and Tylenol/Advil so I think I might as well stop at this point so I can hopefully go to the bathroom soon. I believe at this point it’s primarily incisional pain anyway. I guess I’m just looking for positive stories of recovery, especially if you also had a more complicated removal. Also, if you have any tips for incision pain, I’m just feeling a little disheartened. I know it’s only been 3 days and I did the right thing because of how scarred everything was but this really sucks lol

Getting to O’Hare from Milwaukee area

EDIT- Thank you all so much for your suggestions! Obviously this is a ways out but the plan for now is to drive our own car and use the Preflight Parking ramp, adjusting if necessary based on weather.

Hello all, I have a bit of dilemma and I’m just looking to crowdsource some possible solutions. We are going to be flying out of O’Hare on an international trip right after Christmas. The flight leaves at 6:30am and then on the way back we land at 10:30pm. We’ll be coming from the Milwaukee area to the airport. There is a shuttle that runs between the MKE suburbs and O’Hare multiple times a day, but the earliest bus doesn’t get to the airport until 5:45am and the latest bus leaves the airport around 8:30. We have a 2 year old and while he’s pretty laid back and good at traveling, I’m trying to come up with the solution that is most simple and economical if possible, but will ultimately make the decision primarily off of convenience lol. Here were some ideas and we could do any combo of these or if you have another suggestion lmk:

-Take the airport shuttle down the night before and stay at the on site Hilton, same thing on the way back just reversed - this is the one I’m leaning towards the most, cost would be about $600 total but being able to just walk right into and out of the terminal for these awful flight times sounds worth it

-Hire a private car to drive us both ways (any suggestions on reliable companies), looks like this would be about $600 as well, or about $300 each way

-Take train down the day before, uber or Lyft to hotel with shuttle - toddler would probably enjoy this, cost TBD. If you have a suggestion of an airport though please let me know!

-Drive ourselves and park in long term, this looks to be about $550 but I’m concerned about leaving the car in long term in the winter for 12 days and then driving back right away after 12 hours of travel plus it being bedtime sounds kinda miserable

-Beg our family in MKE to drive us 😂

Pain management until surgery?

My surgery is scheduled for mid August and I am so ready. I was doing okay and then about a week ago I started having awful pain nightly, usually once around 11pm and then again at 3am. It was so bad last night I thought about having my husband just take me in for an urgent removal. The thing is if I can wait it out until the August surgery it won’t cost us anything out of pocket (long story short we have a supplementary insurance called Lantern). I’ve been taking Advil which seems to help. Anything else I can try to keep things manageable for 2.5 more weeks? I’m open to anything that isn’t illegal lol. I can definitely be better with diet so if anyone has suggestions on low fat, gallbladder friendly foods throw em at me.

Alcoholic parent chooses own abusive/alcoholic parent over seeing grandchild

Basically the title. We were supposed to go see my parents this weekend but due to some health stuff on my part that can’t happen. Instead, my parents had offered to come see us. One of my parents is an alcoholic, about 18 months sober. We’re working on our relationship and it’s getting better. Today though I got a message that they can’t come see us because my narcissistic, alcoholic (not sober) and abusive grandfather (parent of the alcoholic) is in town (he lives there part time so this isn’t a rare occurrence) and he’s giving them grief about leaving for the holiday. It’s extremely frustrating on multiple fronts. I have a toddler who my parents don’t get to see often. They do get to see my grandfather about once a month if not more when he’s back at his house in town. I don’t understand why they can’t suck it up and tell him to fuck off. And I’m also angry my grandfather doesn’t have an ounce of understanding that maybe he could stop being a selfish twat and let his child see their only grandchild.

Ugh anyway, just venting, but it’s truly exhausting and just kind of sad. My child sees their grandparents that live in a different country more often than they see the ones a state away 🙃

Best Post Op Clothing

My gallbladder is getting evicted soon (looking forward to it honestly). But I’m wondering what I should plan on having to wear afterwards. The only other surgery I’ve had is a c-section where the incision is obviously much lower so high waisted, loose clothes were the best option. I’m just curious if high waisted is still the way to go or should I find pants that sit lower on my stomach? Any suggestions are appreciated. I’m willing to treat myself to a new lounge outfit or two!
