Since attempting suicide by hanging in November, I noticed that I have started to cough up mucus and that has gotten more frequent over time. Gross, but it's usually yellow/green and not clear and now it occurs nearly every day.
I tried to hang myself again on Monday, and I ended up just compressing my airway for like, 30 seconds? By that I mean I couldn't breathe through my nostrils despite them being uncovered. I involuntarily released a noise through my throat near the end. The following 2 days, the whole coughing up mucus problem was worse than usual and I noticed it was uncomfortable to swallow at school because my throat was so clogged... And I had some throat pain under that.
Then, on Thursday, I got a fever of 100.1 that went away pretty quickly. My symptoms were a worse extremely sore throat, chills, severe anxiety?, and some minor vomiting, faintness and nausea. On Friday, I only experienced the sore throat and chills, and today I only have a sore throat. It hurts a lot to swallow or to talk. But I never had a cough or runny nose throughout all of this.
I am just worried that getting sick may have been a result of the suicide attempt instead of a viral illness, since it seemed to occur right after it. I am also wondering about the coughing up mucus thing. I am sorry if I'm overreacting. I have an interview on Monday and a speech to give on Wednesday for HOSA elections, so I really hope my throat will be healed enough to do those things. I am really hesitant to tell any medical professional or adult about the suicide attempts because I do not want to go to the mental hospital.
