Galway is ruined by derelict historical sites in private ownership
I've been trying to plan some walks using AllTrails and Google Maps across the county. I'm trying to justify visiting some less than stellar walking/forest trails by adding on some local historical sites to visit. There are castles, ruins, great old houses and walls littered across the county but it appears the vast majority are on idle, private land totally inaccessible to the public.
I've visited England in the past and have been struck by the amount of public land and right of way walking trails that exist. Absolute travesty for tourism and locals alike how much is inaccessible. The big storm seems to have only made things worse with the amount of walking trails now not worth visiting.
