Sister transitioned from "less symptomatic" OCD to involuntary spasms, screaming, and shaking.

Hello all,

I am new to all this, and I would like to understand my sister a little bit better. I am in high school right now. I don't know much about my sister's condition as we are not very close (both are very busy so are not home at the same times), and she does not like to talk about it. Anyways my parents have clued me in on a little bit about what she is going through. I've known about her therapy for the past 3 ish years, and general symptoms, though the one time I asked she did not want to elaborate so I am not really sure how it feels. The only symptom I could see/understand was her mood swings and such when we were out, and she would play with her iphone phonecase in increasing intensity untill it was almost a violent action (I am assuming this is a symptom cause my parents would look at each other in that way).

Anyways starting around 2 weeks ago, I have heard very loud screaming, crying, hitting walls, running into things, and throwing things from her room which is right next to mine. My mom told me she is experiencing it involuntarily, and its like a tick and she can't control it. But neither me nor my parents fully understand it because she has stopped talking to them and never wants to talk to me about it. We have a family therapy session set up in 3 days. This used to just be every once in a while which I thought was just a hard, rare time for her. But it has increased in frequency, to the point now where she does it as soon as she wakes up for around 2hrs, and then at night starting around 730pm she does it until around 3am. None of us are sleeping, she is severely sleep deprived and my mom normally sleeps with her which means she doesnt get sleep either. My dad has severe sleep apnea and none of the treatments work for him, so he is in an even worse position.

I am just posting this to see if others have had similar experiences. Id like to understand more of what is going on.
