[TOMT] finding the YouTube video itself or the game

I'm looking for a YouTube video essay I watched sometime between 2023 and 2025.

The video was around 20–30 minutes long and was made by a relatively small creator. It used scripted narration rather than live commentary and focused on an extremely obscure PC horror game.

The thumbnail showed a dark humanoid monster from the game. The title may have used distorted or Zalgo-style text rather than normal text.

The creator discussed how difficult the game was to run and mentioned needing very old NVIDIA drivers. He explained that the game started as a normal FPS but later turned into a dark abandoned-town mystery where the player explored, solved puzzles, and uncovered a Lovecraftian-style story.

The game was unfinished and apparently abandoned. There was one memorable monster encounter/jumpscare that the creator highlighted, and I remember him having friends try the game at one point to see their reaction.

The video had a documentary-style tone with minimal editing and was mostly gameplay footage accompanied by narration.

Does anyone know the video or channel I'm describing?

[PC][Unknown, likely 2000s–2010s] Horror game that starts as an FPS and becomes an abandoned town puzzle game

I'm trying to identify an obscure PC horror game that I originally discovered through a YouTube video essay.

The game was not on Steam or any major storefront. The video creator said he had to use very old NVIDIA drivers (possibly around the 300-series / 344.xx era) to get it running.

The game starts as a normal linear first-person shooter. You complete levels, see old-style loading screens between them, and continue progressing like a typical FPS.

After several levels, the game suddenly changes. You spawn in a very dark abandoned town or dock area with no weapons, no NPCs, and almost no direction. The town is completely empty. Progression becomes focused on exploration, reading notes/records, and solving puzzles.

The story seemed to have Lovecraftian or cosmic-horror elements. The implication was that some unknown entity caused everyone in the town to disappear.

There is only one major monster encounter in the entire game. The monster is humanoid, dark/muddy-looking, and not particularly detailed, but the jumpscare was memorable and effective. The creature only appears once as far as I remember.

The game was described in the video as unfinished or abandoned and had not received meaningful updates for years.

Additional details:

  • PC only
  • First-person throughout
  • Graphics looked roughly like an older 2000s/early-2010s game
  • Level-based progression with loading screens
  • Starts as an FPS, later becomes exploration/puzzle-focused
  • No NPCs in the town section
  • Possibly downloaded from a developer website or obscure game page rather than a store

I'm looking for either the game itself or the YouTube video that covered it.
