Employer asking me to resign instead of layoff — offering only 1 month pay while contract mentions 3 months notice. What should I do?

My employer recently asked me to resign instead of formally laying me off. Initially they were saying things like “smaller team”, “not enough curiosity”, “not the right fit”, etc. Now they’re calling it a performance issue.

I already told HR clearly that I’m not going to resign voluntarily.

They are offering only 1 month salary if I resign, but my employment agreement says 3 months notice or payment of basic salary in lieu of notice. I asked for minimum 3 months full salary/payroll continuation but they are refusing.

Now I’m worried they’ll put me on a PIP and then terminate me later by only paying 3 months basic salary instead of full salary.

There was never any formal PIP, warning, or documented performance issue before all this. Appraisal discussions were mixed, not disastrous.

What should I do in this situation? Is refusing to resign the right move here? And if they put me on PIP now, does that basically weaken my position completely?

Need advice choosing parents health insurance: HDFC Optima Secure / Secure+ vs Care Supreme

Hi everyone,

I’m planning to buy health insurance for my parents and I’m confused between:

- HDFC ERGO Optima Secure
- HDFC ERGO Optima Secure+
- Care Supreme

Parents profile:

Father:
- Age: 56
- HbA1c: 7.7%
- Cholesterol:
- Total Cholesterol: 189
- LDL: 122
- HDL: 36
- No hospitalization history
- No surgeries
- Not on regular diabetes/BP medication currently
- BP sometimes slightly high, but no formal hypertension diagnosis yet
- BMI around 23–25

Mother:
- Age: 46
- HbA1c: 6.7%
- Cholesterol:
- Total Cholesterol: 214
- LDL: 148
- HDL: 44
- Had hysterectomy (non-cancerous)
- No other hospitalization history
- Not on regular diabetes/BP medication currently
- BP sometimes slightly high, but no formal hypertension diagnosis yet
- BMI around 30–33

Main confusion:

  1. Care Supreme has significantly more cashless hospitals in my location, while HDFC has fewer nearby network hospitals.

  2. I generally trust HDFC ERGO more after reading reviews, but Care’s local hospital network is making me reconsider.

  3. If I choose HDFC:
    - Should I go with normal Optima Secure or Secure+?
    - Is 3-year tenure worth taking vs normal 1-year?
    - Does locking premium before age slab really help much?

  4. Since my parents already have diabetes/cholesterol:
    - Should I buy PED reduction add-ons/riders?
    - Or simply wait for the normal 3-year waiting period?

  5. For people who have actually used:
    - HDFC Optima Secure
    - HDFC Secure+
    - Care Supreme

How was the real-world claim experience, especially cashless claims for parents with PEDs?

Would really appreciate honest long-term experiences and suggestions.
